“ Everyone has kind of made this a game about the (current) Jets and the old Jets. Hey, as far as I'm concerned, let people keep thinking that way. Because usually, when something like this happens, it's someone else who turns out to be the hero. ”
—Redskins WR Rod Gardner

I think that will be true for the first couple of games because Gardner is no slouch and is a great #2. He would be #1 on a few teams. I think he will explode with only single coverage. Two great WRs and a solid RB to catch out of the backfield means that we just need 3.7 seconds for Ramsey to work a little magic. I imagine he'll come out a little unsure and unsettled as he normally does, but I expect that to be gone midway through the 2nd quarter. Then the fun begins.

Rod Gardner must be one of the most unnoticed and underrated players in the NFL. Here's hoping he changes that tonight.

I totally agree the RG - in fact I was even thinking our #3 receiver would be the standout receiver. Either Johnson or McCants.

RG is a beast with only single coverage! Jets don't want to play that game on him.

Last year, teams had to DT him most of the year. Now they gotta DT Coles. Would have to be in Dime Package all year to do that. Plus they keep talking about blitzing. Gardner has the power to take short dumps for big gains, and Coles can get behind the secondary quickly before the blitz gets there.

Coles WILL BE DOUBLE-TEAMED. We know this. The Jets want to "prove" that by losing Coles, they didn't lose much. That is going to put our #2, #3 and sometimes #4 in single coverage (not to mention our backs). I just hope that we have a "balanced" attack and don't pass the ball 60 times.

I was enraged when the three leading candidates for ROY in '01 were Anthony Thomas, David Terrell, and Chris Chambers. What about Rod?!

Guys....we're gonna run the ball a lot tonight because Spurrier wants to show off his improvement in the NFL. look for the passing game to start up in the late 2nd quarter and 3rd quarter.
