In an unbelievable move, the umpire threw John Lannan out of his major league debut after hitting two batters on consecutive pitches. Manny Acta quickly followed Lannan to the clubhouse.

In my mind, this was an incredibley stupid move by the ump, who used no common sense or major league experience when making the decision. Why would a rookie pitcher (again, making his major league debut) intentionally hit two batters in a row, albeit when the Nats were losing at that time? To top it off, the ump didn't even give him a warning, just immediately threw him out.

What do you guys think? Was the ejection of Lannan justified?

You summed it up pretty well, "Unbelieveable". I really don't have much to contribute to this thread, I'm still in shock. That is honestly one of the worst officiating calls/moves I've seen in any sport, ever. This goes beyond missing a balls and strikes call, or missing a holding call in football, or missing a foul in basketball. It clearly displays a lack of knowledge of the sport. I'm just so frustrated right now. The funny thing is, I'm an O's fan who was just flipping between the channels. Now I'm fuming and can't even watch baseball.

This umpire needs to be suspended.
