WR Kerry Boykins chose Maryland over UNC and Virginia.
He's out of Chesapeake, Va.
6' 1" 210 pounds. 4.55 40 yard time
He's a 3 star recruit. Very likely to become a 4 star guy by the end of the season.
Nice pick up for the Terps.

Is he coming in as a WR? Sounds like a Safety with that size and 40 time.

From what i'm hearing Keino, a WR. But it could change any time.
UNC landed his teammate, Harrelson. He's a WR as well but UNC it turning him into a CB. Well, Harrelson plays both side of the ball, WR/CB. So it shouldn't be that hard of a change.

Gary Douglas committed to Maryland.
He's a RB from Durham, NC. Chose Maryland over North Carolina State, California, Tulsa, Marshall and East Carolina.
He's 6' and weighs 177.

Keino, later on in the paid material, they said he was ranked the #50th RB in the country. So I'd assume he is. They didn't mention his speed in the article.

Seems like a very tall and thin RB. Maybe he is the WR?

Could be. Or a CB. Maybe he'll add some weight his senior year. :whoknows:

Or he's listed at 6'0 which means he's really 5'9.....LOL

Alabama received 3 committments this weekend. I am pretty excited about all 3 of them as well. WR Melvin Ray, WR Burton Scott, and OT Tyler Love.
All 3 are 4 star players, tho Love should be a 5star. I expect after this season he will be upgraded.

Chris, if you want, why not start a Alabama thread? I know there are a few bama fans here.
I'm going to start a '07 UNC thread soon. :)
Just a thought...lol

All of them seemed to disappear when Gtown knocked them out of the tourney.

That's OK - IMO, your not a fan unless you take the good with the bad. Mike - you're turly a loyal UNC fan and I've got to admire you for that.
........................now I hope MD crushes them 42-0 this season

And on that note...
Oh wait...did you just hear that sound? I've heard it a lot this summer. Oh....It was the sound of Beamer taking another instate recruit away from Al Groh. :banghead:

Keino, that is entirely uncalled for! :)
We'll be back, don't worry. This years team will be better than last years, you can count on that.

dj, I wasn't going to say anything, but on a paid site I belong to, they are saying that inside sourses are saying that Groh and Bowden[Clemson] are the two ACC coaches in the most trouble. They said that Groh has to win 8 games this year or he's out. :whoknows:

You aren't telling me anything I already don't know. Al is definitely on the hotseat, but 8 games may be too high of a benchmark for him. UVA knew he took a big step back last year when he lost 65% of his coaching staff. They were aware it would be a rebuilding year, and that was his mulligan. My guess is that he needs to win 7 games and get himself one of those minor bowl games Keino likes to make fun of so much to save his job. Fact is, the University likes Groh because he really turned around their football program (in more ways than just on the field), so it will be a hard decision for them to make if he doesn't have a winning season this year.

love is a 5 star already. bj and ray both came out of left field and were huge gets. devonta bolton (6.4 220 4.45) has committed since your last post, which is huge. as has hood of st. paul's, a bama stonghold that will land us aj mccarron (top 1 or 2 qb) next year . star jackson will announce for us pretty soon. we have a top ten class right now on hype and fanbase alone. julio jones ( best overall) is about 50% ours as of now. if bama can deliver on the field this season, esp on offense, then we'll land a top 3 class, and we'll start seeing addai, landry, spears, russell, bowe kind of players on top of the solid recruits that bama lands on fanbase alone (see brodie croyle, who as the #1 qb prospect chose bama in the middle of probation). it's exciting, but getting tickets is tough right now

Should have created an Alabama thread will all of this. As this is a Maryland we need to go back to topic.
Perhaps a mod can cut this post and make it into an Alabama thread?

don't sweat it, this forum is a ghost town for another couple weeks, then a bama thread or few is def in the works. btw, the offense looked really good in scrim the other day, suggesting maybe that applewhite really has teh talent there clicking, or otherwise that D is horribly thin. that week two vandy game looks to be a nice barometer game, answering hopefully: can the O step up and win scoring contests? can the D step up and hold a good offense in check? personally, i see us in the 8-9 win range. D creates some timely TOs and maybe we get 10. some bad breaks with injuries and maybe we get 7.
