No official word yet, but the Redskins have brought in running back Dee Brown to practice. It's likely that he has been signed.

I wasn't aware we needed another back, unless its just to cover injuries. We already have Rock, Blaylock, and Mason to fill out the depth charts...maybe this means Betts will miss the game Saturday? He's been out with a neck injury the past couple days.

The good news is that we got Dee Brown. DEE F_ING BROWN!

The bad news is that we traded our 2008 2nd round pick, our 2009 4th round pick, our 2010 fifth round pick, and swapped first round picks for the 2011 drafts.

Phew, that was close! I was sure the FO would have accepted the 2008 1st rounder, swapping the 2009 1st rounder for a 4th rounder and the 2010 second round pick. Way to stay strong Vinny!

I'm not sure the answer but after visiting TC yesterday I'm sure Rock was begging for another RB. They were working him like a dog. Mason spelled him from time to time but, none of the other backs saw anytime in the backfield. Portis was nowhere to be seen and Betts and Blaylock sat out of the scrimmage.

You know, I don't have to do any research to tell you those answers...

He was a beast in 6th grade flag football, but due to strained achilles from running after the ice cream truck, he wasn't able to make the transition to intramural 7th grade touch football.

He needs to prove he is worth a shot to get a shot at having a shot to play if Portis' legs are shot.

He signed a 10/35/5 deal that show how counts only $1.35 on this year's cap, so we're good until year 4, at which point, he runs $17M a year.

Extremeskins are saying that he's going to push Portis for half his carries and 1200/15 isn't unthinkable for him.

There you go... Time saved, you may thank me in cash or check form (two forms of ID), or for the ladies, uh, nevermind...

Portis has tendonitis, Betts had a stinger, Blaylock injured his ankle, so we need bodies for camp and for the Titans.

I agree that is the reason, but I am also worried about needing bodies on the o-line. I'm afraid to send JC out ther against the Titans unless he can wear one of those yellow jerseys.

i love JG for some of his paranoia, but these decisions (duckett, brown) dont make any sense. LB was back at practice today and if blaylock doesnt go on his ankle, his behind is cut (and he knows it).

Since Dee knows the 700 page playbook, he might surprise us all. Coach wouldn't have acquired him unless he liked him in KC, so maybe he's more than just practice fodder.

chas3

we need to snatch him up before someone else in our division does and plays him against us. then, in a fit of pique we will refuse to play him expect for 2 or 3 downs during the entire season. BUT, we will talk about how he is coming along and a great player during the year. next year, brown will feel the need to actually play some football, and leave for another team.

he could be the backup to the backup to the backup that the running back core needs.

What happened in the last couple of days to think he wouldn't have made the roster? Everything I was reading said that he looked great in minicamp and was running with the 1st team in TC while Randy was out? Buges was bragging about him during the summer? It says they're backups. Whittaker was working with the 1st team because Thomas was resting an injury and because he impressed in mini-camp. He showed up to TC fat and then got hurt and now he is gone.

Dee Brown is just a body for preseason, cause our coaches are too afraid to play starters due to injuries. I guess Whittaker was not cutting it and would have been cut eventually. But, I can't believe Bramlet is gone already. Good pat on the back for winning the world bowl.

Well if he was good enough to run with the starters during camp PRIOR to his injury and none of the other guys that are backups could supplant a supposed overweight, lazy, no-chance-of-making-the-squad guard in the lineup says to me that the story may not be over with Whittacker as a Skin. He's injured and no one will touch him from now til after the Titans game. We may sign him back on Sunday or Monday.

Yeah, missing the fact that hype may be news but it is not information. A guy as overweight and as out of shape as he is would have been cut immediately in Gibbs I. It speaks volumes about the OLG position that he even got a look. Toniu Fonoti anyone?

It's training camp, nearly 40% of the players practicing are going to be cut.
Back in the Gibbs I era, the Skins cut an overweight Guard in training camp named Nate Newton, he turned into a pretty good player.

Possible if Blaylock continues to have the nagging injuries that have plagued him the last two years. It's a shame because Blaylock has more talent but being able to play is the first most important thing.
