this is something we have been missing since matt bowen (did i just say that?) left. our blitzes have not been effective the last two years, and it looks like landry and LF (who was held on this play) are changing that.

He got one on both of them on nearly identical plays.
The John Parker Wilson hit is a little better just because of the call. "John Parker Wilson JUST GOT ANNIHILATED!!" later followed by "That's just evil right there!" on the replay.
I still watch it on youtube when I get bored.

"he hit brodie croyle just like that last year at tuscaloosa on the same blitz."
"i bet brodie still feels it."
LOL. i look forward to many more hits like that from him and hopefully some forced fumbles along with the hit.

While I love Landry and I'm really looking forward to seeing him develop, the D was not all that impressive as a whole... I just hope that GW gets these guys together and that we see Landry cleaning some more clocks.

I thought the D looked pretty solid.

Its tough b/c I watched the game only once (noramlly i re-watch preseason games in slo-mo to get a feel for what really went right and wrong), and I just felt that a JV NFL squad was able to move the ball on us and get first downs. Sure we didn't give up many points, but we also probably won't see a heavy does of Kerry Collins all season. What happens when we face the TO, Shockey, and Westbrooks of the world?
Don't get me wrong, it was the first preseason game and I without opinions until after game 3... But last year people got on me for worrying about the offense b/c it was "only preseason" and look where that went. I'm a little nervous, but not worried..... yet.

and our linebackers were active and tackled well all game

We'll never know whether the LBers were better due to change in personel, or change in coaching staff (Olividotti sp?)? I think its a change in both, because I remember saying how the new LB coach relates a lot better to the players.

As Shally said, the tackling was much better and it seemed to me that the guys were really flying to the ball, which was severely lacking last year. The isn't a ton to be gleaned from the first PS game, but it's better than seeing them get marched up and down the field that's for sure.

london fletcher.. he makes every one around him better
rocky.. has stopped overrunning the plays
marcus.. healthy again
marshall.. playing as a reserve which is his strength
blades.. instinctive player
sartz.. played decently considering his limited practice time
k campbell... not gonna say anything out of respect for CNY
trucks.. very active and made 4 tackles

Tennesse had a better squad than all those teams last year. There record might not have been better but they played inthe AFC and had a decent record.

Tennessee was okay last year, and not better than the Eagles or Cowboys. They were probably better than the Giants.

Yes, but TN doesn't exactly pose a top rushing attack. I think we'll get a better feel for our front 7 against the steelers starters this week.

Shutting down the Titans running game isn't the same as shutting down the running game of our next three opponents. My judgement is still pending.

Sure, but would you call the Titans a very good team no matter where they play? I'd say they are middle of the road. Not as bad as their start last year and probably not as good as their finish. They are lacking in some key areas and without VY they are even worse.

Maybe, but they didn't face Tennessee's starting QB, either.
I'd like to see 1 sack a game. Just 1. Is that too much to ask for, GW?:cussing:
