The running game was working and he stuck with it. Hell, he stuck with it more than Marty did.
Folks, we have a new starter at RB....Mr. Betts! I guess when Stephen Davis said he woudl be good he meant it!

I don't think we'll give up on Trung after one game. I look for a starter to become clear by Week 4, though, and Betts just put himself in the lead.

160 on the ground I believe.

I don't believe we really need a so called starter, tonight work very well
basically SS is going to alternate between LB and TC. TC is good against pass defenses with weak DL's while LB's is fast and can bully his way through the lines.

Heck, I'd throw'em both in the backfield and let the D guess if the ball is going to Betts coming up the middle or swung around to Canidate near the sideline.
Betts impressed the heck out of me against the Jets, and looks like a number 1 guy, but Trung's got speed, so he'll always be a valuable piece in the offense.

You've gotta be kidding, Joe. Trung tap danced even on his longer runs. Those holes were gaping for him in the 2nd half. Its a crime if Betts isn't our feature guy. Feels good to have been Betts #1 fan in here.... Yes, I'll still be destroyed about Champ, but hey, we won!!!!

No, I'm not kidding. It's one game. Heath Shuler managed to look good for one game. Danny Wuerffel managed to look good for one game. Curtis Martin managed to look awful for one game, but I doubt the Jets will up and replace him if LaMont Jordan ran better tonight (I didn't pay enough attention to notice which one was more effective). These things can't be discerned over one game. That's what we complained about with Spurrier all last year.

3 straight games Joe. Last two last year and 1st one this year. Ridiculous that this is even a question in my mind.

Three straight games for Betts, not Trung. And let's not forget that those two last year were against the 28th-ranked and 20th-ranked rushing defenses. Not to take away from Betts, he's played exceptionally well, but we've seen Trung play a whole game once. I'm not saying Betts hasn't showed us a lot. I'm saying Trung needs to get more than one game before we toss him aside.

The best part of our RB's is when two are in the backfield (trung, betts, or morton) and one goes in motion split wide... I get on the edge of my seat because I know the opposing safety must be crapping in his pants...
I love that formation, SS must have called that five or six times and each play was different. Awesome!

Spurrier deserves alot of credit for the way he called the game and you could see some of his formations beginning to work. The McCants TD was a typical Spurrier play which my not have worked with a lesser QB.
It is only one game against a defense that looked alot worse then it did when they finished strong last year and shut down Favre and Manning in consecutive games.

Yeah, it's only one game, but it's a notch in the W column, and we can take a lot from it.
What I hope our coaching staff takes from it is three things: Improvements on pass protection, pass rush, and penalties.

Anyone notice SS wa going for the jugular, when Ram scrambled. All the WRs went deep and the Jets were in Man.
Ram make the the right dicisson.
I love the call and the out come.
Ramsey is not only strong arm he is also very smart

Trung ran the ball well. Ladell may get more carries, but i look for trung to break alot of long runs this year. still think Ladell looked like the more complete runner....fast and powerful!

the thing i liked most is EVERYONE did not expect SS to run as much as he did. Maybe he did learn a thing or two last season. Props to the d, 158 yds total offense by NY speaks volumes. only 60 some odd yards rushing by two good running backs. i know this is one game but ...... i think people will hopefully start to give our defense some props especially seeing as how they said we couldnt stop the run!!!. BTW speaking of props, did anyone else notice Jerkoff Madden giving Lavar props, i nearly had a heart attack when he did.

Trung has speed but it seems that he has only one gear, which makes him an easy target to tackle by even the slowest of linemen. He also seems to have zero power as I have not seen him break a tackle yet. He also doesnt make people miss. So straight speed is good on the track but you need more on the field.
WHEN IN THE HELL DID BETTS BECOME SO FAST??? He has power and speed and should start soon

I'm inclined to agree. I like the tandem of a pounding bruiser like Betts, followed by pure speed.
Wear the opposing Defense down with Betts, then turn on the Jets with Trung and Morton.
Riggo made Joe Washington look fabulous.

I am not a big fan of Spurrier but I give him all the credit in the world for his gameplan last night.
I hope he sticks to this type of gameplan all season. stick with what is working.
nice game SS

You know Steve Spurrier is a changed man. We could have had the ball before half time with about two minutes left and 1 time out. A year ago, Steve would have went with this option and tried to chuck it in the air for one more score attempt before half.
I was shocked when he let the time tick off the clock with only a 6 point lead. I think he knows now that you can't be super aggressive every minute...you got to know when to push and when to ease up

Yeah. That is a huge change, wish he didnt change that aspect though. I woudl have liked ot have seen them attempt to get into Hall range.

How about starting Betts and using Trung for a third down back and an occasional change of pace back. I don't like having Morton as the third down back . . . he looks hesitant and fragile when on offense.
