View Full Version : Samuels is a stiff

1st off, I am very happy we got a victory tonite but there was something that bothered me the whole nite.

Chris Samuels was beaten almost every single play and just looked awful. I think this guy has been living on reputation the last year and a half. I firmly believe we need to bench him because it is on his shoulders we entrust our QBs blindside. Ramsey had heat the whole game from Samuels side and I think we need to make some change or Ram is gonna get his ass kicked on a weekly basis.

Granted, Abraham is a hell of a DE, but COME ON! He was beaten from the snap of the ball on probably 85% of the plays I watched. At one point in the game, he was beaten 5 straight plays badly.

It is sad to watch and I am sure the coaches were watching.

I will be damned if I have to watch another season of our QBs getting killed because of poor protection.

Anyone else have thoughts on this from an unbiased viewpoint?

Yeah, he definitely looked bad. Jansen wasn't spectacular either. In fact, none of our linemen really stood out tonight. They did stand up quite a bit, however....

Alot of tackles are going to have trouble with Abraham! if you watch him play, the first thing you notice about him is extreme quickness off the ball, followed by great football instincs. But you can run at him if you noticed it tonight. most teams are going to have to chip him with a back....also, Ramsey has got to step up in the pocket quicker because Abraham looked to be running to a spot where he thought RAM would be. and Chris would push him, but Ram did not step up. That is something that will be corrected by watching it on film.

Thomas and Moore were getting beat by a single guy when they double teamed. Fiore was missing assignments and got penalized. Samuels was humbled. Jansen looked confused. The entire line blew quite a few switches. Other times, they looked great. So I hope it was just communication issues that can be fixed.

I think alot of the bugs will be worked out soon enough (at least i hope they will).

Well, I mentioned one play to rskinsfan10 about Samuels but he said the guy had a good jump on the ball and that no one would have stopped that guy. That being said. I think the Oline faired okay. We need better pass blocking but they did create holes for Trung and Betts.

Yeah, that fumble by Ramsey. I was actually keying in on Abraham and he got one of the greatest jumps I have ever seen a pass rusher get, so much so I was screaming that he had to have been offsides. He's a helluva player, no doubt.

I agree that the communication between linemen will improve and the kinks are sure to be worked out as we go here. I loved the run blocking and was nervous in passing situations. To be quite honest, you're right, Samuels is somewhat overrated. Not a top guy, but very solid. Abraham is ridiculously great though. No one needs benched.

All the pass-blocking was awful. Not just Samuels. Benching Samuels for one bad game in unthinkable. He hasn't been living on reputation, he worked hard to play through injuries all last year.

Samuels is not overrated.....he is an awsome tackle....he just needs to step up. I chalk it up to the line not playing together much. I think they will be great once they get in snyc

Samuels had trouble with Abraham true. That is understandble. If he has trouble with Johnny McNobody, then we should consider benching him...maybe

Again .. Spence right on the mark ... Pass protection was weak but the running game looked great. It will be interesting to see how much of this was the Skins O-Line and how much was the Jets D-Line. Need a couple more games to assess, but right now I'd say .... it looks like they have a long way to go to fix things (hope its technique and team work issues and not talent ... cause our "great bookend tackles" looked very ordinary)

And replace him with who? I will say it again, nobody would have stopped abraham last night! he is a playmaker like Lavar.

Dont bench any of hem... just spend some time watching film and get more work together. These guys are better then they played last night... and they should be able to work the kinks out. We have 9 days to get ready for Atlanta.

samuels always struggles against speed rushers. I also think samuels is somewhat overrated.

I think if he continues to struggle Dockery should get a shot at LT and in the off season we get rid of Samuels and use that money on Champ.

I would rather keep Champ and lavar than Lavar and Samuels

John Abraham doesn't play for the Jets anymore.

I think you are talking about Shaun Ellis, who did seem to be getting the best of Chris on Saturday.

Way to read the thread.

Wow dude...digging up a three year old thread, not reading it, and correcting a posters information from three years ago with the stuff that happened this year. That takes talent.
