The Cleveland Browns have announced they have waived TE Buck Ortega.

Buck Ortega has GOT to make our roster. How else is he ever going to get to the Pro Bowl?

They picked him up from us. I wonder what he weighs now. 225# was too light for a TE and he is too slow for anything else.

Poor BUck...getting no love...

I never understood the fascination with him. He is soooo skinny. ANd we already got a pass catching TE in Cooley.

No question. But he's got to be better than Yoder-lay-he-who, aka The Man with No Hands.

Visions of that over-the-shoulder catch from Jason still dance in my head. Can't he come be a possession receiver? The heck with tight end...

Don't know why you hate Yoder so much he is a decent receiver and a pretty good blocker which is what you want from a #2 TE.

I don't hate him. He's just not performed up to expectations the last few weeks. I hope Edwards steps up.

I agree!!!!!

I was wondering if anybody remembered that. And with all the clamoring for a tall receiver, he seems like a funky hybrid for us, a Joe J. kinda guy.

i was being a wize-azz.. but buck was JC's favorite receiver in preseason

still, i think the front office would rather have edwards at this point.
TE have to block and even cooley is not the best at that..

Cooley-Yoder-Edwards sounds okay. I'm still looking for the curveball though. I want either Edwards to step up or Bell to make a name or something.

Maybe we're really happy with Yoder, I dunno. He sure made himself conspicuous the last two weeks, but not in a good way.

it seems youre the only one who is not content with Yoders play. Most of us our happy to have him, he can block and can catch when we do send him out as a receiver. what EXACTLY has he done for you not to like him? Yoder is going to make this team and i dont know how you can see ortega as an upgrade. so he caught a few passes in preseason one year, thats no big deal.

Simple:

Big catch. False start. Drop.

A little consistency would go a long way toward making me feel a lot better.

i think one of the tight ends has to be primarily a blocker.. and since neither edwards nor cooley is top notch inthat regard, it will fall to yoder-- who is not too bad.

nobody will confuse him with warren or james jenkins or ron middleton.. but he is adequate

Has Edwards had the chance to block? I noticed that he's listed as being bigger than Yoder on the roster. Has anybody actually seen Edwards block???

More to look forward to on Thursday...

EDIT: 84 Edwards, Eric TE 6-5 257 2 LSU 08-04-1980
87 Yoder, Todd TE 6-4 253 7 Vanderbilt 03-18-1978

i always thought he was more of a receiving tight end

I've seen Edwards block. He's been abused a few times. Got outright pancaked once that I remember, lol. He makes an effort and isn't much different than Cooley who is hit or (mostly) miss. Yoder is by far our best blocking TE.

Well there you go. I have nothing in particular against Yoder. Just the false start penalties and a few dropped passes, nothing unusual for our backup tight ends.

How's the kid from Delaware doing that we just missed in the draft? Anyone? Bueller?

He hasn't exactly lit it up. Two receptions for 32 yards in 3 games.

Of course, don't ask how many catches Ecker had over that same span. :imshock:
