My first blog in quite some time.
So “Big Joe” is gone. The cruelest cut in Football terms sent him following behind Lemar Marshall to look for pastures new. I highlight these two guys because most of us felt that they would have a crucial role to play this year. We all know that last year was awful from a defensive point of view. Nobody was sorry to see the departure of Holdman, Archuleta, Wright et al. However with the departure of Marshall last week and Sa’lavea this week we have seen a commitment to something different. But what are we seeing here?

why should I be surprised at the way things move at Redskin Park, stability is at a premium in the NFL and there is nothing more unstable than a team that will try anything outside convention to win.
that sums up my feelings about the front office since 1999. It is like they are committed to winning by proving everyone wrong instead of winning by doing what other succesful teams do. I love proving everyone wrong, but the NFL has a way of squashing innovation.
As I have said before if 31 ohter teams in the NFl are not doing what you are thinking about doing, perhaps you shouldn't.

I wholeheartedly agree about Wynn. I partially agree with Jimoh, but he is a beast on punt coverage, so at least he does contribute.

See I am flipped on that. Wynn has been one of the decent run stoppers on the line when in the game. Jimoh could not cover qudrapalegic Mannequin without giving up a long pass.

How could you tell if a mannequin is a quadrapalgic....they never move!

Meh. I am not outraged over the los of Joe and Marshall. Surprised? Yeah, sure. I expected both to be on the roster as known commodities behind our starters, but neither were anything special at this stage of their careers. I'm okay with giving the young defensive lineman a shot. Godfrey is a different story given his age, but from all of Gregg's interviews, he seems extremely excited about having him and they obviously consider him an upgrade over Lemar. I will reserve judgement until I actually get to see him do something for us.
Bottom line, I'm not gonna get worked up because we waived two backups coming off an historically bad defense and a 5-11 team.
