I wanted to introduce myself here. I have already posted a couple times, so I'm a little late.
I was born in DC and lived in Alexandria in my formative years (The Sonny/Billy years). My father was a big 'skins fan and he raised me right. The (17-0) Dolphin vs. Redskin Super Bowl actually took place on my Dad's birthday, and it was not a happy one. We moved to NJ and I grew up surrounded by Giants fans, which secured my loyalty to the Redskins.
My most vivid live Redskin memory was a MNF game against the Giants at Giants Stadium in 1986. It was the night the Mets beat the BoSox to win the World Series. It was a very strange atmosphere in the stadium. At odd times during the football game the crowd would erupt in cheers, because most of the people in the crowd had tvs or radios and were watching the baseball game too.
I lived in NJ when the NJ Devils moved in, and I am a huge fan of them as well. (Both of my favorite teams have 3 Championships).
I may be unreasonable in my support for Patrick Ramsey, because like him, I am a Tulane Graduate. I also like Shaun King (and used to like Kenny Karcher and Bubby Brister (even though he was "Bubba" when he was at Tulane).
My favorite sports guys are guys like Darrell Green and (NJ Devil) Kenny Daneyko. Guys who stay with the same team even though they could make a few more bucks by going somewhere else. There just aren't enough guys who spend 15-20 years with one team anymore.
I live in Minnesota now (which is only possible because of DirecTV). But don't ask me why I live here. I ask myself that same question everyday, especially during the 10 months of winter.
I consider myself a political centrist with left leanings. I admit to having voted for Jesse Ventura, although I probably would not have if I thought he would have won. But I will mostly stay out of the political discussions/arguements because I firmly beleive the following statement to be true
"Arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics, even if you win, you're still retarded."
Thanks to the people who run this website. Thanks to you for reading this, and I hope to be a welcome addition to the "family".
GO SKINS!
