Fletcher.

Fletcher. He already knows the defense Williams likes to employ. He is a contagious tackling machine and an excellent positive influence that will rub off to the defense possibly the whole team. Landry close second.

I'm torn between Fletcher & Landry! I want both, but I guess I have to chose just one... :whoknows:

me too, but i went with fletcher because its instantly became clear as soon as we saw him live with the defense, that he was what we were missing as far as leadership goes. i think over time landry will prove to be the same type of player.

I went with Fletcher because he will have more opportunities to make plays than Landry.
Kendall is an intriguing choice as well. When we average 125 yards a game running the ball and no one has touched JC, we can look back and say yeah, I guess that was a smart move.

Fletcher will be the stabilizer but Landry will be the game changer. He'll hopefully aid in us getting turnovers and knocking the ball lose on some 3rd downs.

Fletcher. Very closely followed by Kendall.

Well - I went with Kendall. I think he's the missing piece of that O-line puzzle. As pointed out - the running game will be the ture test.

Kendall may be the most important acquisition, but as far as impact you have to go with Fletcher.

Fletcher, he'll be the one to get Landry, Smoot and everyone else on D in the position to succeed
Kendell is second, we needed him for the Offense big time.

London Fletcher. QBs the D and a huge upgrade over Marshall in the middle.

Has to be Fletcher. If he can help stop the run, our secondary is plenty good enough to prevent the pass on 3rd down.

Fletcher over Kendall because it's not just what he does, it's how he impacts all 11 players on the D.

Fletcher is the safe pick for me. He is an experienced vet and he automatically makes the entire LB corp better.
Landry looks like he will make an immediate impact, but he is a rookie, and rookie mistakes are bound to happen. Plus, if the pass rush is non-existant again, his job will be much tougher, and thus make him more error-prone.

My gut went with Landry although my brain says Fletcher. No doubt both are going to have a great impact. Can't wait to see some WRs get crushed.

Who is going to have the biggest impact on the team this year of the new guys we picked up.
It's an interesting question, and a tough prediction when so many things can happen in the course of a year. You could tease out the possibilities over time, too. For example:
If Springs goes down early in the season, Smoot would have a chance to show the guts that he displayed in his first hitch with the team, and be a sentimental favorite for this season.
Kendall may be a litmus test for how much Dockery was really worth. If we don't miss a beat, then the money saved by not grossly overpaying DD could be added to the balance sheet that allowed us to lock in Cooley, long-term. I realize that this kind of thing is usually not an either/or question, but from a bird in the hand standpoint, we may be better off.
It's hard to argue that Fletcher and Landry won't pay huge dividends this season, and, Landry especially, over a much longer haul. Having a tackling machine and leader like Fletcher in the middle of the D makes everyone on that unit better, which is why I would have to pick him for if we're talking about 2007, specifically.

i havent even heard anything of how smoot has played so far in the preseason. like, is he playing like the smoot during his first washington tenure, or when he was in minnesota? and i started watching the game vs jax in the 2nd half, so not even sure if kendall played.

Honestly, I think London Fletcher will make the biggest impact. Having him there allows Taylor to drop back and Landry to play shorter. He also adds the leadership and intensity tot he squad that I haven't seen since late 2005. It seems like they are attacking and not reacting. It doesn't seem like we're on our heels as nearly as much.

Fletcher because he will lead the team in tackles and allow our safeties to play the safety position.

Fletcher for me based on preseason play. His knowledge of the game, playmaking ability, & leadership ability were all things that were lacking in the MLB position, arguably the most important defensive position.
Ignoring any other factors (such as injuries), this one upgrade has raised our defense up a couple levels.

Fletcher, easily. he is the new QB of the defense that actually understands how to manmage a defense and is the surest thing close to being a perfect tackler.

Fletch. He makes the whole defense better.

It needs to be Landry. The 6th pick in the draft and widely recognized as the best defensive player in the draft needs to have the largest impact. It's not expected, it's demanded.

Most Polished Rookie I have seen in a long while.. Without a doubt Fletcher will get his "quiet" 100+ tackles, but impact plays will be made by Landry for sure.

I'm gonna say Rocky McIntosh will be the biggest impact player. I consider him new cause he's only been here a year and hardly played last year. What I have seen leads me to believe he is going to one of our playmakers on defense. He's gonna be the turnover machine. Fletcher and Landry are 2nd and 3rd respectively

I am going to go with Landry. Fletcher will be a rock but Landry looks anything but a rookie and I see massive big play potential in him.
On the opening kickoff of the last preseason game he blew away his blocker and made the tackle. I think he is going to make life very difficult for runners and receivers alike.

It all starts up front, and if he Skins want to be in any position to win Fletcher and the guys will have to stop the run. It may not show up as clearly as a wicked hit on a pass over the middle, but stuffing a back at the line is just as beautiful.
Hope the D-line can keep the guards off the LBs this year!

Fletcher - he will make the most tackles and is the bonafide leader and commander of this fired-up defense. LL will have some great moments but will be tested often and will undoubtably have a couple rookie mistakes.

Fetcher will make the most plays, however I hope to see Landry inpact Owens the first time he touches the ball.

I'm going with Kendall. If the "O" line stays healthy and has a swagger this year then the 'Skins have a real shot at a nice season. If they don't and Campbell gets hurt as a result then we're looking at 5-11 again.
I would have liked to have seen them sign a legit pass rusher. You can have the best secondary in the world but if you don't pressure the QB he will pick you apart all day long. Maybe Andre Carter can be that guy, I don't know....

I feel that Fletchers presence will make a total impact on the defense. I also think that if we have griff/montgomery playing together, that might take a few double teams off of Carter and he will have a huge impact, especially with Rocky playing behind him this year. Kendell's part is huge for the offense though. I think all of these players are going to make a team impact. GO SKINS !!!!!!!

London Fletcher and not close for second. The man has led his team in tackles the last 8 season, and led the entire NFL the last 4 seasons. Fletcher brings instant stability to our interior run defense. That is huge.
Landry is a talented kid but he will have his down moments like all rookies do. Smoot will be a nickle or a back-up and not on the field as much - if we are lucky. Kendall is learning the offense and his linemates and won't be himself for 4-6 games. McIntosh is a Will, in his first season as a starter, and unless he gets 10 sacks he won't have nearly the impact Fletcher does.

Tough one. Fletcher because he provides the leadership this defence hasn't had since Pierce. Kendall & Landry are close though.

impact as far as overall improvement of the entire defense, Fletcher.
Kendall probably will prove to have a similar effect on stabilizing the offense.
most impact plays, Landry. i really expect Taylor to have the most impact plays, but for a new guy, Landry.

I wanted to vote: speed.
Chris Wilson could be the surprise impact player of the year. I have a hunch he'll become a starter by year's end.
If he and Carter put pressure on opposing QBs, there will be no end to how good we can be.

I was about to ask whether players who have been here only a year can be included. If yes, my pick would also be Rocky McIntosh--with Anthony Montgomery right behind him.

I don't remember the last time there has been this much anticipation about young players (J.Campbell, Landry, McIntosh, Taylor, Blades, Montgomery, Golston, Rogers, Wilson, Heyer) on the team. That's a great feeling.

It has to be Fletcher. From what I have seen in preseason he is a monster around the ball and is always near the ball. I didn't see him miss a tackle cough Marshall cough once. He is someone that the other team will always have to gameplan for.

Kendall is a very underrated choice IMHO. All he's done is step in and make us forget about a glaring problem that could have been our undoing.
