Montgomery above Golston...didnt see that comming. I thought Golston has been darn good this preseason and had the preverbial lead comming into camp. Monty must be a space eater in Gregs opinion.

holy crap how did I miss that? That could be big.
Now remember this is from the Redskins themselves, not Redskin.com just posting stuff they want to post. This is supposedly from the Redskin organization itself.
Interesting.

You can say that again..I mean this week I saw Monty alot in the backfield but IMO one preseason game dose not a career make and I thought Griffen and Golston had some real chemistry going. I am literally floored but it is no secret how much potential Monty has but we all know what potential will do for you..I guess you all can tell I like hard working over achievers on my squad more then underachievers (to date)

According to redskins.com it's unofficial, and I really think it's not exactly how the depth chart actually is. At least for the DT's

I can't put any stock in that depth chart. I would guess there may even be some gamesmanship on it if Joe Gibbs has any input into what is posted.

-- Defensive Line
The Redskins head into the regular season with nine players on the defensive line. The starters are Andre Carter and Phillip Daniels at end and Cornelius Griffin and Kedric Golston at tackle.
On third downs, Daniels said he could move inside to play tackle. That could open the door for first-year player Chris Wilson, who earned a roster spot with a strong camp, to come in to rush the passer. Coaches were impressed with Wilson's speed during preseason.
The Redskins wanted to get younger across the line, which may have led to the departure of Renaldo Wynn. Surprises include Wilson, Ryan Boschetti and Lorenzo Alexander, all of whom earned roster spots.
Anthony Montgomery is the top backup defensive tackle, replacing veteran Joe Salave'a.
Demetric Evans, entering his fourth season with the Redskins, is a versatile player who can line up at end or tackle.
Boschetti is also entering his fourth season with the Redskins. He has continued to bulk up each year and could be ready for an increase in playing time. Coaches like his energy and workmanlike approach to the game.
Alexander spent time on the Redskins' practice squad last year. In preseason, he logged five tackles, including one tackle in which his helmet flew off but he still made the play.
Undrafted rookie Alex Buzbee impressed coaches in preseason and he was added to the practice squad.

Again, I suspect Golston remains the starter over Montgomery

Well, Montgomery is a bit of a shock. Golston looked good last year and there was chemistry developing with Griffin. Last year Golston outplayed Montgomery but I guess we see what that is worth. Golston will be fresh for 3rd downs, but this one puzzles me.
Brunell does not surprise me. He has more playing experience. Collins may get a shot later down the road. I want to see how Portis does next week after sitting out. Betts has proven a capable runner though suspect on blitz pickup. I hope Mason gets some time in there.
The depth chart looks a little scary at the guard position, but that was to be expected.

it is unofficial...but every other depth chart had Golston at #1 and montgomery at #2...interesting indeed.

yep i read that on JLC's blog and scout.com
IF this is official I don't know why everyone assumes Golston will be playign on third downs. Golston was substituted for Daniels and wynn during the pre-season and Washington/Wright took their place on the outside.
