OK guys...Betts looked the porofessional runner last night.
Canidate had some nice holes, and I just kept screaming at him to stop juking and start running. He'd be 5 yards away from a defender, and start juking. I was not impressed. Had we started Betts and played him 80-90% he would have had 150 yards rushing.

I think both played very well and i hope we stick, and from what i hear, we will stick with a committee. Each brings to the plate a different aspect. Trung was solid, i like his performance, averaging 4.6 yards per carry, Betts was outstanding. I like this backefield. Anyone miss Watson?

Hell no. I'll NEVER forgive his Dallas skrew up!!
My point about Canidate is he could have done MUCH better if he stopped dancing.
I don't like the committee approach. Yes, it worked last night, but I think an RB should have the chance to watch and see plays develope in a game by game basis. I'd rather them switch every other game than every other possession.

Canidate is what he is--a scatback. Complaining about how he dances around too much instead of plowing ahead misses the point. Dancing around and looking for a big play is what Canidate does. It's the player he is and he is unlikely to change. Canidate is a home run hitter who will strike out a lot. Betts is a chain-mover.

Coach Spurrier has had multi-star backfields before. There was a poll or thread here, a few months back, that asked who would gain over 1,000yds. I think Watson won the vote by the way! ha ha! I said we'll have two-Betts and Canidate will do it. Even though it's only one game, I can see it happening now.

I think Canidate could still cut up the field a little quicker. There were two times at least we called a cut back play which is misdirection and the Jest didn't bite either time. Bad play call. I think Trung did well on that last drive, but I like Betts and think we would have done even better with Watson.

I like the two-back combo. It keeps the RBs fresh. We saw it work last year with Watson and Betts when SD went down. Also when was the last time a Redskin back went for 126 yards?
I think SS will start with the rotation and go with the hot back for meaningful carries down the stretch. Maybe next week it'll be Trung.
Also, I have to praise SS for turning to the running game when Ramsey looked a little shaken after the interception. I think that was as big a key as any in our victory.
Betts is a speedy rusher who will run through the line no matter what. Trung will try to find that special hole that will allow him to make huge gains. I was at his game against the Jets in 2001 and he was able to exploit tiny little mistakes that the Jets' DE's and DT's made and he was able to make HUGE gains. He tried that last night and while it didnt work like the last time it still got some yardage. Look for Betts to be used more in NFC East games with Trung being used when a pass D is being used (AFC East opponents)

I recant. Before last night's game, I thought that Betts was the one who deserved to be cut. Not Watson. Betts ran well last night.

I'm very pleased with our two backs. Their styles are very different and they will bring an added dimension to the offense.

I did'nt even see Trung touch the ball on the last drive. Seems Betts is still not getting his propers.

We are giving Betts credit for his play yesterday. I hope he keeps it up because we'll be that much more better by midseason.

no, you missed my point.
Do you think Barry Sanders saw a hole and waited in the middle of it dancing around so that tacklers 5 yards away might give another inch?
I LOVE jukers for RB's they make the best ones IMO, but you have to take those yards when they are GIVEN to you. He wasn't doing that.

I thought they both played well and using both of them is a good idea I believe. Just watch, Trung will break off some huge runs this year. He can take it all the way, which is something even Stephen Davis could not do, and that's why we have him.

I feel the same exact way here. Go figure, right? I'm not buying that Canidate is more of a home run hitter than Betts guys. Where is the proof of that? Don't throw college ball at me either. Betts is the best overall runner. Period. Yes, Canidate had gaping wholes on a couple of 2nd half drives and tap danced around, without any positive effect, prior to hitting the hole. You can stick your stopwatch yada, yada..... Betts hits the holes faster and overall looks every bit as quick or more than Canidate plus is a bulldog at the end of each and every play. Kudos to Spurrier for giving him a chance to shine.
