There's a new Skins bar in NYC.

Red Sky Bar
47 East 29th St. (btwn Park & Madison)
212-447-1820
http://redskynyc.com

They show the games with sound, they have drink/food specials, and they are doing it up and going the whole nine yards on this. They'll have a large projection TV and other TVs setup around the bar...of course, there will be sound. They are definitely enthusiastic and 100% committed to the Skins.

It looks like a pretty cool place and you can't beat the name. :banger:

If you'd like to join the Redskins meetup group, go to http://redskins.meetup.com/17/ or check out my myspace page

Hope to see y'all there.

Good for you guys. The fact that they have sound is great. If I get stuck in NYC on a Sunday, I will know where to go.

This thread is great. I just arrived here at SUNY-Stony Brook last weekend. I had no idea how terrible it would be to listen over the internet. How is the presentation so bad? There's usually a 2 minute delay. It constantly "buffers" when it's streaming. This is so incredibly frustrating.

I cannot wait for another month and I'll head into the city for the game. At least next week it'll be MNF, and then we play the Giants so I'll get it here, and then the bye. After that I'll meet you guys at the bar. This is so frustrating.

My freshman and sophomore years of college at SJU were tough because of the lack of skins. However, I moved off campus and directv has become my best friend.

Overall, it was a good experience. Would be interested in hearing other opinions.

They have promised to work with us and improve....especially now that we had a great turnout. Honestly, they didn't think the turnout would be THIS big.

I'll post some pics when my buddy posts them up.

Good news! They are adding TVs, staff, and space (opening up the roof and upstairs lounge and adding a projector screen in the lounge).

They were clearly overwhelmed and under-prepared for the number of people who showed up (even though I warned them several times).

Here's a letter we received from their manager.

Hey Redskins fans! Thank you so much for showing up this past Sunday and sharing your enthusiasm and energy with us! I apologize for the hiccups from yesterday as this was our first week and we had not expected the huge turnout that ensued.

For future games we will have most if not all tv's on the Redskins game, our huge projection screen up and running with the game as well as our second floor and roofdeck open. The second floor will have a large screen and audio.

I appreciate the emails with feedback from yesterday's game and apologize that I was not here to make sure things had gone a little more smoothly as I was out of town. I would love to hear anything else that you may like to see done differently or added.

I look forward to seeing you all on Monday night when the Redskins beat the Eagles making it 2-0!!!!!!

If they'd had Direct TV when I was a teenager, I might never have left NY!!

Any other Albany NY Skins fans out there? Best place in Albany area to watch Redskins football is Lynn's Uptown Sports Bar at 15 Colvin Avenue (between Central and Washington). The manager is a HUGE Redskins fan and there's up to a dozen or so hard core fans who get together for the games. Lynn's also features the best chicken wings in the Capitol District (as voted by Metroland). He's even got the fight song on the juke box. Lotta great sports memorabilia on the walls. Very friendly and fun place.

Updated specials....

* $2 Bud/Bud Light drafts

* Ice cold bucket of any 5 bottled beers for $20

* 25 cent wings

They are also opening up their lounge and roof deck. The lounge has audio and includes a large projector screen, and they will add a large projector screen in the main bar

So everyone should get their beers more quickly, have a better view of the game, and more elbow room.

HTTR!

Just got off the phone with Marni and Mike (who are now heading the Redskins games at Red Sky Bar). There are some really nice updates.

1. They are broadcasting ALL the Redskins PRESEASON games. They have NFL Network and have access to all games. Here's the remaining pre-season schedule:

8/9 vs. Bills 7pm ET Game shown LIVE

8/16 @ Jets 7pm ET Game shown LIVE

8/23 @ Panthers 7:30pm ET Game shown 8/24 @ 1PM

8/28 vs. Jaguars 7pm ET Game shown LIVE

2. They replaced the (small, unacceptable) upstairs TVs with 3 large (50") flat screen TV. This will hopefully ease some of the congestion downstairs.

3. They are working on deals with Budweiser and Coors for beer deals =) are re-vamping their food deals, and having tee-shirt and jersey raffles.

4. They are planning to have a Redskins tailgate pig roast on the upstairs deck for the season opener. If all goes well, they may make it a weekly thing.

Hope you're having a great summer.

More details to come...

Went to most games there last year. It was overall a good experience. The beers and wings were cheap but the rest of the food is a little overpriced. The playoff game vs Seattle was amazing (and wow was that place rocking when Nix recovered the onside kick). The staff was courteous although sometimes understaffed. Also, the main bar is pretty small so I suggest getting there early if you want to lock down a good area. However, its still a great bar to watch games and I look forward to seeing all of you there this year. Hail to em.

This is awesome. I wish I could go tonight but its my GF's birthday. I will definately try to get there for a few games this year seeing as I live in Harlem and can get there in 30 mins by subway.

The season opener should be a riot!!!
