Portis/Betts and the OL looked very good today. Along with ARE. Other than that, average at best. I don't know what was wrong with Moss today. Funny stat of the day. Lloyd gets a catch but its taken away due to a 5 yard penalty against the Dolphins. lol
Defense---B+
Rush defense did a wonderful job today. Didn't allow a run any longer 8 or 9 yards. And that was only once that I can remember. Pass defense sucked as usual. Not enough pressure on the QB again. Too many conversions on the 3rd down for the Dolphins too. Drives me crazy. But overall, great job by the defense.
Special Teams---A+
Sean Suisham and Derrick Frost did a great job. Other than the one kickoff where Ginn returned it to the 50 yard line, our ST and coverage team played great.
Coaching---B
I think overall the coaching was pretty good today. We seemed to go deep a few times and we ran the ball pretty well. Balanced attack. Coach Gibbs had me worried with the game winning FG attemp from 40 yards out. But that's why he's the coach and i'm sitting here. lol
Bash away if you will. But that's my thoughts on the game today. I'm very interesting in reading what you guys though...

Offense
B- OL turned in a solid job, especially Samuels on Taylor. Dropped passes by Moss and the picks/overthrows by JC drop this a B- and an overtime win.
Defense
B+ Fletcher, Rocky, and Griffin had great games. Hats off to those guys for stellar work. Smoot was picked on bad and could have been torched if not for the drops by the phins. Smoot decided to return the favor with own drop that would have sealed the game. We still need more pressure, and rogers/smoot must step it up because its only a matter of time b4 Springs is injured.
Special Teams
A- Great work by Frosty and Swisscheesem. Excellent coverage except for the one long return. Disappointed that our return game could not produce a little more.
Coaching
A We won, and acted like winners. Good gameplan on both sides of the ball. I would have preferred if we would not have called the TO on 2nd down just before punting at the end. I wanted to knock it in a little closer for the FG too. But we won! 1-0 and leading the division. Make that an A+++

Offense - B
We played our game and rushed the ball. We took our shots deep and was relatively successful there. Basically, our #2 receiver stepped up and our running game paid off. Campbell had 2 INTs, but Lloyd should have, at least, caused that deep incompletion. Also, 400 yards against a top 5 D, so pretty good.
Defense - B+
I would have liked a couple more turnovers, and for Smoot to hold onto that INT, but basically shut down the running game for the most part and did well against the pass.
Special Teams - B
Did okay against a potentially dangerous returner but did little in terms of returns.
Coaching - B+
Solid coaching and use of personnel. Could have seen more of Cooley though, he would have created all kinds of mismatches. Still, coached to a win...

Offense
Line- B+ good protection and good push off the line.
WRs- C+ too many drops, only bright spot is ARE.
TEs- D. MIA. Good blocking though.
RBs- B+ hard running and good blitz pickup.
QB- C+ Good arm but inaccurate on some throws and the picks cant happen.
Overall- C+. Gotta score and do a better job executing.
Defense
Line- B- not much pressure on a terrible oline but pretty decent run D.
LBs- A- other than hook zones where Green pinpointed the WR they looked fantastic. Gotta wrap up Green too.
CBs- C- Too much room and terrible awareness.
S- B ok but not playmakers like they need to be.
Teams
B+ Ginn got lose a little and ARE looked like more of a dancer than a returner but overall pretty good and Game Winning kick.
Coaching
Offense- C+ Unimaginative playbook and no involvement from cooley/lloyd/ or getting moss going early.
Defense B- Where is the pressure and why do you keep smoot on chambers? ahhh.
overall B- Got a W and thats all that really matters.

cooley was kept in to block a lot so it limited his effectiveness as a receiver. he whiffed a few times on porter, but got him solidly one time in the OT when it really counted..
plus, i think the fins were looking for cooley every time he went out

I think you are right - fins strategy was apparently to take away Moss & Cooley and make the Skins beat them on the pass with ARE and Lloyd. It didn't work with ARE, and that is a good sign for the future (could also throw some passes to the backs to keep the D honest). I also think JC throwing down the field helped to open up the running game (as opposed to MB when there was no threat of such).

ARE impressed me with his speed.. but he is smallish and i sure wish we had someone of lloyd's size and speed...too bad it doesnt look like lloyd is up to it...

Offense - B-
Portis and Betts combined for a potent rushing attack, both rushing 17 times for a combined 157 yards (the team totaled 191 yards on 41 carries, for an average of 4.7). Portis averaged 5.8 yards per carry, although Betts only averaged 3.5. Jason Campbell threw two interceptions, but still threw for over 200 yards and showcased a strong arm. The offensive line played relatively well, especially considering Pete Kendall was making his first start and Stephon Heyer had to come in for Jon Jansen early. The passing game was plagued by dropped passes (especially by Santana Moss) which disrupted the offensive rhythm and ended drives, especially at the end of the fourth quarter. Jason Campbell was also sacked twice, and the Redskins fumbled twice (fortunately, both went out of bounds). The offense did manage convert third downs 50% of the time (7-14), and totaled 400 net yards.
Defense - B
The Redskins looked much improved against an admittedly-marginal Dolphins offense, holding them to 273 yards and sacking Trent Green twice. The defense also managed to recover a fumble. The run defense was solid, and the Dolphins only gained 66 rushing yards on 20 attempts (for a 3.3 yard average). London Fletcher and Rocky McIntosh both had outstanding games, with 12 and 10 tackles respectively (McIntosh also forced a fumble). However, large cushions and repeated mistakes by corners Carlos Rogers and Fred Smoot allowed Trent Green to make several key passes and throw for 219 yards and a touchdown. Chris Chambers caught 6 passes for 92 yards, and Smoot dropped an interception at the end of the fourth quarter which could have ended the game. The defensive line still failed to get consistent pressure, although they did manage to stuff the run and made a few important plays. Overall, the run defense played very well while the pass defense still has much room for improvement.
Special Teams - A
The Redskins appear to have finally found a clutch kicker, and his name is Shawn Suisham. With consistently deep kickoffs and three field goals, including the game-winner, this guy is a keeper. Frost has also improved tremendously on his punts, punting 5 times for a 48 yard average and a long of 64. Aside from one long return by Ginn, the return coverage did very well.
Coaching - C
While the team performed relatively well, the coaching staff still has not learned how to run a two-minute drill. At the end of the fourth quarter, the Redskins had the ball with a minute left and three timeouts, but all they managed was a three-and-out and a punt. Furthermore, with the ball and first down deep in Dolphins territory, Gibbs elected to go for the game-winning field goal (a 40-yarder that was not a chip shot by any stretch of the imagination) when the running game had been nearly unstoppable on that drive and the Redskins could have very well driven closer to the goal line and shortened the distance. However, a win is a win, so they managed to overcome their mistakes for this week.

O= C+ JC was a lil shaky, to be honest. But the Wr play was far worse, minus ARE. Moss had a couple of costly drops and Cooley had to help in pass pro more than they probably wanted. Lloyd showed a lack of effort on the Int during and after and then did his best Taylor Jacobs impersonation the rest of the day....MIA. The run game looked solid against a very good run D, that gives me hope. I like the dual threat of CP and Ladell. Sellers also chipped in a good blocking effort and a few nice runs.
D=B+ Their might have still been a lack of pass rush but Carter certainly applied pressure, and got a sack. Golston and Griffin also had good penetration at times and along with Monty, Rocky and Fletcher shut down the run game. Rocky looks like a stud LB, Washington doesnt appear to be 100 and Londonquietly gets the D in the right positions. Smoot and Rogers gave too much cushion at times, seemingly by design and we paid the price. They both gave great effort but have to play better... Springs is still the best CB on the team. Taylor, Landry and P2 were very solid in coverage and run support.
ST=A They did well in return coverage holding Ginn in check. Punt return teams did an average job in blocking for ARE... at best. Suisham is solid and steady, glad we held on to him over Novak. Frost punted pretty decent , he had one short one that i remember but boomed one 63 also. Rock did his normal job returning... 20+ ands El tried to make something from nothing more times than not on punts.
Coaching= B+ Nice job with the brass in pocket call at bthe end by JG in overtime, I don't think he took to kindly to the Td with 4 secs left on 4th before the half. I think he had faith in Suisham and said lets take 'em now boys...Game plan seemed steady, nice balance on O. Unfortunately the O's woes were more do to lack of focus/executrion than game plan IMO. The D was strong but they still must find more ways to pressure, especially against better lines. Overall speed at LB and added secondary depth and health helped offset the lack of pressure today.

OK . ......... we are grading our team against an AVERAGE team going in
DEFENCE ............ C ...... Man, we are in trouble against any team who has receivers that can catch. ..........OH YEAH, we had a DL who got to the QB.
OFFENSE .............. C ............ No comments needed, the score speaks for itself.......... AND if you need a wake up ......... Campbell ( look at the QB rating) Cooley ?, Moss ? , Loyd ? ........... ARE-B+_ but it's a slanted one. Betts - so/so. ......... OH Portis, C+
SPECIAL TEAMS A- ........... THANK YOU!!!!!
COIN TOSS A+ ............... Priceless

F for everybody, especially the head coach, Gibbs. As long as he wears panties, we will never achieve anything.
Brilliant move there having Wade inactive, BTW.
I'm glad we won today but I am really disturbed by the ridiculously conservative manner with which we achieved the win. Marty Schottenheimer was laughing at this game.
Pathetic... We're going to get spanked next Monday night, if we come out with that kind of strategy.

Offense: C
The offense showed us their potential today, now they need to live up to it.
Defense: B-
The defense played quite well, but I wonder if it was just because miami offense is horrible. One thing they did differently then last year was they stopped the run, the fletcher acquisition is already showing it's worth. But there was also a lot of similarities to last year, they couldn't get much consistent pressure, GW is still using line backers to cover WRs more than a couple times a game and that worries me, and other than Springs our corners aren't playing good man coverage. The coaches saw rogers do this cushion thing last year, and now him and smoot are doing it this year. Are they coaching them to play like this? I don't see why you don't play the WR tight from the line of scrimmage when you have 2 ball hawk safeties that can chip in on the deeper stuff. I know smoot is capable of playing tighter man coverage, although it might be time to accept the fact that rogers is not.
Teams: A- Good start
Coaching: This sums it up for me. They need to trust their team and play to win.

Speacial Teams gets an A++++
Look at the Iggles and other teams that had ST break downs and tell me we aren't greatful for the day we had. Yes, the Dolphins had a couple returns, but they also have on of the most explosive young players in the league bacjk there. Plus ARE almost broke one.
Defense gets a B++++++
They kept the score down, but WILTED on some drives to end the half. You can't have that. Smoot had his b est game since returning to the Redskins. :D
Offense gets a C+++++
They looked a little out of sync, but they wore down on the 'Fins and kept going to the run.

It is all good if you are satisfied with a mediocre team and an 8-8 record.
I'm not.
We aren't good enough to be a conservative team. And at home? Come on...
Did this win build any confidence for you?

Offense: C -great running game. passing game needs work. Guys need to catch the ball. I thought the scheme did a good job of keeping their front 7 off of JC. 13 points in regulation doesn't cut it. Needs more killer instinct.
Defense: B+ -13 points. no big plays. Could have put this game away if Smoot holds on to that pick.
Special Teams: A -won the game. would have been an A+ without that one big kick return.
