"Screen Passes with the Javelin"

My favorite comment from the game last night was when Madden, in discussing Ramsey's strong arm with the long passes and trouble with the touch passes was when he pointed out the Ramsey probably "never threw too many screen passes with the javelin."

It was classic Madden.

I like Madden as an announcer because he's entertaining. That's what announcers are supposed to be. Madden is hardly the brightest bulb in the box, but I enjoy having him i nthe broadcast booth.

I miss the good old days when Madden and Summaral(sp?) were together on CBS. Madden's words were not so "used" then and you knew Pat would screw up a few names after his 10th or 11th drink of the game.

I like Madden and he does his job well. His job is to offer commentary on a level so that anyone can understand what's happening on the field. A lot of people don't watch football because they don't undersand what's happening and don't want to learn or look embarrassed because they don't know Madden explains it so a five year old could understand. I also have a hard time calling someone an idiot if he has a SB ring. If he's dumber than we are, we should all have one. Why? because we'd be dumb for not seizing our opportunity to do it.

The best announcers right now are Sonny, Sam, and Frank. Madden is entertaining. Everything else is garbage. They should get Riggo up there, he does a real good job on NBC.

I like Sonny Sam & frank. I usually turn the tube down to listen to them when I am in the area.

Madden is like a worn out comic who needs new material. His continued predeliction of the obvious is beginning to wear on even the casual football viewer.

He was ahead of his time early on with Summerall, but enough people have heard his routine that it is now passe.

Personally i hate the negativeity he brings towards the skins. He just really grates me the wrong way. Some of what he may say is true, but when it comes to the skins he rarely has anything nice to say except for the band or if they are blowing away their opponent. Thursday nite i was supprised with some of his positive comments about our skins.
