They are always running for reelection and the NFL is very visible and popular, sure to get media attention. Much sexier than controversial issues like the war, their earmarks, etc.

Isn't this about the former players from way back when? I don't think they're multimillionaires by any means. These guys got paid regular wages to play football, and are struggling because they don't receive adequete benefits. I don't see anything wrong with talking about that.
