A little late but I posted my latest Vision Quest article and as always included the 5 Things We Know Now from the Detroit game and a brief look ahead to Green Bay.

You can read it by posting below:

Vision Quest: Turning Point or Fluke (http://www.hailredskins.com/?p=218)

And comment on it in this thread.

Nice blog, Dustin. One minor thing, I think we've had a pick-6 in '04, when Pierce caught a deflected ball in San Fran and in '05, Lemar Marshall vs the Raiders.

I got that tidbit from a LaConfora Chat here (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/discussion/2007/10/04/DI2007100401560.html).

WDC: With Carlos Rogers catching his first interception and going to the house, unlike the year he had 6 or seven drops and him missing out on the Pro Bowl, are we looking at a Pro Bowl season for him? Really, the guy seems so scared to make a play on the ball it's almost laughable.

Jason La Canfora: Hold your horses bro. Long way to go before talk Pro Bowl.

However, that was the first Pick 6 for a 'Skins DB since Ohalete in 2002. Weird, eh? That's a long, long time. With all these pass-happy teams they face should be chances for more to come.

So I probably should have included DB in there.

I think it was a turning point for the coaches. I think it made the coaches see that you can't ever let up. I think we have played well in the Miami game, Philly game, Lions and half of the New York game. I think the offense is starting to open up a little more. I think they are putting more and more on Campbell. I think the turning point for Campbell and the O line was actually the Philly game when Philly came after Campbell with the blitz and he made him pay. Once a young qb proves that blitzing him over and over is not going to work it is like the right of passage.

this is correct.

CNYs statement would be correct if he had said he were refering to the defensive backs in particular

For Rogers sake, I really hope that it was a turning point. On the pick, he actually reacted to the ball, saw it, timed it and made the play. He looked like a seasoned pro cb. I dont think that play can be considered a fluke...it looked too good. That was my favorite play of the season so far, at least plays that dont include a hit from taylor or sellers. GO SKINS !!!!!!

carlos has jumped numerous routes since his rookie season, the problem he had was actually catching the football, hopefully he finally got the monkey off his back for dropping pick 6 interceptions.

I totally agree with the article. The bugaboo of the Redskins over the last 3 years or so has been consistency. One week they look like world-beaters, and they next week the lose to Norv at home. Last year we beat New Orleans, the #2 seed in the NFC, in the Superdome; despite that victory, we pretty much sucked. I think that the Packers are vulnerable, and that we can beat them next week, but even if we do, I won't be convinced that we're an elite team in the NFC, just because of our history of inconsistency.

well we will see. The bye week helped them prepare and Philly gave the offense a blueprint on how to attack Detroit for sure. They dont have a bye week this week, lets see what happens

That play was the exact play he did not make in Seattle in 2005. He makes that play andit is possible we were going to the Superbowl then. So far that play is a fluke until he continues to do it again and again.

They have been consistently inconsistent.

good read, i hope what we were treated to this past week continues -- it seems that Carlos may have finally figured out how to read the plays better and found some stickum -- Jason looked like he was very comfortable instead of second guessing himself -- finally got to see Mike used effectively and Thrash more involved in the overall game plan -- basically they gave themselves many more options - front four stepped up better(they have got to play 110% every down) -- i still have doubts about CP being 100%, he just doesn't seem to cut the way he did before the knee deal? Carter is bringing it on D, Landry is a great asset and on and on...
what i really enjoyed the most was that this team took me back to our powerhouse days -- it was FUN to watch Redskin smashmouth football without having to put in an old tape!!HTTR

Always a great read. Let me put on the rose colored specs. I agree on consistent inconsistency, BUT past inconsistency ala 2005 was largely injury based (Brunell looked great, burying Dallas then got dinged and the O went very far south). Last year Springs, Griffin, bad replacements like wright, the loss of PP, Hwy 57, LM out of position and certainly no LF fueled our inconsistency, as well as a lost Carter and monumental goofs Archuletta and Lloyd and the loss of CP.

This year we continue to get hit BUT there is a Fabini for Thomas, a Wade for Jansen, an improved Evans for Daniels, a Heyer for OT dings, not to mention the additions of Smoot, Torrence and above all LL, LF, and the maturation of JC, AM and CR (maybe the int was a flike but he is really improved from 2006 againlst both the pass and the run).

Yes, we are either on the cusp of solidifying the very improved performance (another example is ARE, he is much better than in 2006) or of see-sawing week to week. With my specs I see constant week-to-week improvement in AM, LL, and most particularly JC. The vet addditions are across the board improvements unlike kast year (woops I didn't mention Kendall for DD - don't you think Buffalo is having what-if thoughts?).

I agree we are on the cusp, but there are so many factors of proven improvement I think my glasses may be clear instead of rose colored.
