She's not my first choice for the nomination, but...
Riding a crest in her political appeal, Senator Hillary Clinton now leads former New York Mayor Rudi Giuliani 48% to 41%. She also claims a stunning double-digit lead of 52% to 37% over former Senator Fred Thompson. Two weeks ago, Clinton led Giuliani by five and Thompson by eight.

These results come at a time when 54% of Likely Voters express a favorable opinion of Clinton. That’s the highest level yet recorded for the former First Lady. For most of the year, the number with a favorable or unfavorable opinion of her has been essentially even.Source: Rasmussen Reports polling (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_2008_clinton_vs_giuliani_thompson)

well I will make you a deal Dave...you get the GOP to go back to their supposed values of 1994 and I will meet you half way. Balanced budget, no nation building, keeping government out of our private lives, that sounds pretty good to me right about now.

I would love for that to happen. Power went to the heads of the decision makers and they chose to bastardize my party.

what ??? only winning 48 to 41 over flawed rudy ?

if i were a democrat i would be very much afraid at this point. she should be 25 points ahead right now.. if with everything going her way, and with the total black hole that is the GOP right now, a 7 % lead is all she can muster, i would not feel that good about her chances..

OMG...seriously. These are incredible numbers and better then anyone in either field.

I swear the Hillary bashers are never happy. First they point to the poll numbers showing she cant win and then when those poll numbers change and show not only can she win, that it is a likely outcome, they bash her for not being ahead enough.

happens all the time.. it is a matter of expectations versus performance.
it is the way a second place finish in a primary can be spun into a "win" or loss" depending upon the expectations prior to the primary

my point was a simple one.. hillary has everything going in her favor now. nobody has trapped her into making any mistakes, the other dems arent putting a dent in her lead, so she can totally concentrate on the real campaign. she has tons of money

on the gop side, there is chaos and a sitting president who might be the greatest liability since nixon. rudy himself has a huge number of negatives
and has not exactly distinguished himself. . and yet, with all she has going for her, hillary only has a 7 point lead.. if you figure that most polls have a plus/minus of at least 3 percent, potentially they are close to a dead heat (or hillary could be 10% ahead).

again, i am surprised that hillary is not well into double digits ahead right now because it is more than likely that the gap will narrow once the candidates are named.. you can feel free to spin it any way you choose, and being ahead is always better than being behind, but with all the negatives that rudy has to deal with he has to feel really good about where he is in relation to hillary right now

now, if you want my personal opinion, i would have to think long and hard about who to vote for in a hillary/rudy race.. i think hillary will govern to the right of what a lot of people think, and i definitely believe that rudy (based upon his time as mayor) would govern to the left of most people on the conservative side. both are capable of being incredibly thin skinned.
so it is not quite as easy a choice as a lot of people make it out to be..

A country of 300 million people and we have to elect people from the same two stinking families?!?:twak::banghead:

Why don't we give them a freakin' crown while we're at it?
