Who: Washington Redskins @ Green Bay Packers
What: Week 6 of the NFL
When: 1 PM Sunday, October14, 2007
Where: Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin
Why: It’s football — there is no why.

Green Bay offense v. Washington defense

QB Bret Favre is having a good season — statistically, so far, his best in about a decade — though he proved last Sunday that he will still force the ball where it doesn’t belong if he thinks his teammates cannot win the game themselves. His wideouts, Donald Driver, James Jones and Greg Jennings, are solid if unspectacular receivers who run crisp routes and have better than average hands. As a group, though, Green Bay’s receivers are no better than Detroit’s wideouts and probably are not quite as good. Jennings has the ability to stretch the field and must be watched carefully, but an aggressive scheme can also keep him jammed at or near the line of scrimmage. Driver and Jones are Favre’s favorite targets, but neither of them are considered deep threats. They will be tested this week against a very solid Redskins secondary. Cornerbacks Shawn Springs and Carlos Rogers are all having solid years and were the unheralded heroes of the Washington defense last week.Read it all (http://www.hailredskins.com/?p=220)

Not half bad, but KGB is leading GB in sacks (4.5)

Good stuff in that breakdown.

I think our front four can get pressure on Favre. If our corners play press and take away the quick hits and the lb's cover the wideouts for the dumpoffs we can win this game.

I expect a nailbiter, If we can get ahead early I think we can for Brett into some panic pics. If we don't get ahead early we could be in trouble with the Packers playing relaxed.

The little things will matter, special teams could be the difference. I don't like that sushi missed a couple kicks badly the last couple games.

hope you are right about the outcome

the more i think about it, the more i think the game will turn on special teams play and turnovers. the pack has a good young kicker. the skins kicker looked great on kickoffs but has missed 2 makable FG's the past couple of weeks.
both have solid return games and good coverage units.
JC has limited the int's but still puts the ball on the ground. the skins were incredibly lucky (and unlucky on defense) last week because out of 9 fumbles by both teams, the ball changed hands only 1 time. if the skins put the ball on the ground 5 times this week, they are going to lose.
on the other side, farve had 2 different halves last week. the good farve had the bears on the ropes (and if tillman does not strip the ball twice, the score is 31-0 at half and the game is over). the bad farve got the bears back into the game and allowed them to pull ahead..

another thing.. we trash the skins coaching staff for poor clock management- rightfully so.. but farve and the packers management of the final 2 minutes was as bad as anything we have been treated to under gibbs 2.. this is a pro's pro running the offense, with available time outs.. and yet he still let the game slip away from him with incredibly bad clock managment. so, it happens even on vet teams

i think this is a game we can win. but not without 4 solid quarters of defense and without 4 efficient and error free quarters on offense

24-21.... Redskins, as taylor makes a game saving pick inside the final minute of play

can we protect JC, because they will come after him, especially if EL can't play.

Along with that, can we open running lanes, and break the first wave of defenders?

defensively, can we get to brett with our down 4? if we can, you will see the same type of D as last game

If we can't, lets hope that our blitz get there, because the times that williams has sent it, it usually hasn't worked out that great, except for a few sacks here and there (oh, and Londons fumble recovery vs. the giants.)

basically this game will come down to what almost all games in the nfl come down to.......turnovers, fight in the trench's and a little bit of luck

all these close games have aged mw well beyond my years!!!!
but if its a victory on the other side i will be more then happy to take it

Like the score of 24-16. Also think the loss of GB's C and his b/u gives us a + instead of a wash. If we can run Favre will get impatient. I hope we can do the TO thing instead of being close. GB has a good pass rush so maybe Cooley is again a blocking factor instead of a threat, but last week w/o Cooley (primarily blocking), Moss and ARE (for a half) JC proved he could spread the ball and overcome. If he also takes what GB gives him and we can run we should be alright.

i just posted this on the injury thread, but i think it bears repeating

the pack will be without their starting center (wells) and possible without a starting guard (coston) who was injured in practice this week.. think about facing an o line that has 2 new starters for the first time.. that has to get GW's jacked up at the prospect.

aside from making it easier for the front 4 to get pressure, it should allow GW to design more exotic defenses for zone blitzes, and it means someone will be making line adjustment calls who is not used to doing that
