I'll admit, it was a moment of weakness for me. I am man enough to admit that I was in awe. As I was heading towards the tunnel area at FedExField this past Sunday, I made my rounds, sharing a few handshakes with a handful of gameday security guards that I'm cool with. Rock Cartwright is now walking right beside me as we walk down the tunnel. We acknowledge each other and I share with him my hopes that he has a good game. Then, out of the corner of my eye, "the man" appears. Simply put, the man is standing there, looking quite debonair in a black on black suit that you can tell was made especially for him. Now, this gentleman and I know each other. We talk all the time, and every now and then those conversations are face to face. Having said that, I couldn't get over how well this suit looked on his 6'3'' frame. Yes ladies and gentleman, I was experiencing a man-crush on Rick "Doc" Walker's suit.....

KS- Okay, before we get started with the football questions, I have to ask who is your tailor? I need to get my suits to look as good on me as yours did on you Sunday?

DW- Haha, Kustom Look Clothiers. Kustom with a K. He's located over in Lanham. My man's name is Kwab. He's an exciting young guy, a former computer analyst who decided to go after his passion. Kwab is the man.

KS- Good deal. I'll have to check him out. Well, I suppose we can talk football now. One of the most impressive things from this past game against the Lions was the offense and how it seemed to flow collectively. How did things look from your perspective?

DW- Well, the NFC Player of the Week was Jason Campbell, and rightfully so. He didn't have mad numbers as far as bombs, but he was efficient. He made alot of plays with his feet, remaining poised while throwing the TDs to Cooley and Caveman Sellers. We will never know now, but Randle El with 100yds in the first half could have set a personal record. The upside to it was we also saw him spread the ball around to McCardell, Lloyd making a catch. I just think that with Campbell, he's very good now. He has a chance to be what he was in college, where he was an undefeated All-American. He really has a chance to be very good if this team around him continues to improve.

KS- Let's talk defense. They were equally if not more impressive then the offense, especially when you factor in the opponent. What stood out to you the most in regards to that side of the ball?

DW- I will agree with you. Based on the explosive quarter that we witnessed Detroit exhibit against the defending NFC Champions, what Washington accomplished was very impressive. The one thing that stood out the most was they got pressure with there front four. It was the down four getting after the QB. It allowed the LBs to take that intermediate zone away. The TEs disappeared, and they took away all deep threats with their big WRs. Kitna never adjusted to it. The rookie Johnson was Casper the Ghost, and Williams didn't want anything to do with the inside routes. Really, they just took their manhood. My question is, you really don't want to peek too soon, but that was really wonderful to see this thing come together the way it did compared to when Gregg Williams blitzed all the time to get success.

KS- I believe it deserves mentioning he wasn't an egomaniac that he was blitz happy and seemingly didn't play into Mike Martz's hand. Do you think he did this simply out of good game planning, or was it more to do with having better talent and that talent allowing him to be able to sit back and just out coach Martz?

DW- Kenny, I think it's always a combination of several things. He out coached Mike Martz, and he played to his player's strengths as opposed to his scheme. Players make coaches look great, because if they make plays, he's a genius. If Carlos doesn't make the pick, if Carter doesn't get the safety sack, then maybe they get a chance to look like they did against Chicago. Chicago didn't have all of it's guns healthy. Washington is pretty healthy, and they can play. They have four guys in the secondary that are first rounders. We don't have to really make excuses for what happened. What happened was they are really good players in a really good scheme that had a really good day, and that's what they have to hope to do against Brett Favre and the Packers.

KS- You mentioned Randle El earlier. He seems to really be having a great year so far, especially considering some of the criticism that he received last season. Has he arrived?

DW- Absolutely. He is making a name for himself. He is running much better routes, he's catching the ball, and his best asset is after the catch. Again, just like Jason, he has the chance to be really good at what he is doing. Randle El has definitely earned his keep.

KS- In the past, the defensive line seemed to go only as far as Cornelius Griffin took them. Are we seeing a change of the guard in regards to Carter becoming the anchor that everyone feeds off of?

DW- He hasn't taken it, but I just think he has earned his keep. He is doing what he was expected to do. Cornelius is still balling. Montgomery has been the brightest spot in regards to the youngsters on the defensive line. When Phillip Daniels is healthy, he is an excellent end who is physical and can play the run, and Demetric Evans has really been their unsung hero playing all four positions, and playing them well. Then this young kid Wilson comes in, and he got baptized this week. He has the best moves on this team when it comes to rushing the passer. He is very inexperienced, but hopefully he gets to play in at least a quarter and a half of each game. In three or four weeks, you are going to see this guy come in and cause some hell. We can then have two of the best up field rushers that we have had in a long time.

KS- I think we finally saw Caveman Sellers involved in the offense in a way that you, myself and so many other Skins fans have been lobbying for for way too long. Do you think Sunday was an aboration or a sign of what we can expect to see every game in regards to his involvement?

DW- Hopefully, it's the beginning of something really great to come. He is a unique player. This league is about match ups, and there is nobody in football, outside of maybe Shawne Merriman, that can match up with him. I'd pay money to see Caveman versus Lights Out. I'm telling you, he's just physically imposing. He's an alien. He's 6'3'', 280lbs, onery as a rattlesnake and he loves inflicting pain on people. That's the kind of guy that you need on a team.

KS- Something that concerns many fans is the constant flow of hamstring injuries. Is this an indictment on the player's conditioning, and if so does the conditioning staff need to be taken to task for this?

DW- No, they are in shape. All those guys are in shape. It's just a part of the game. Santana is a sprinter, and sprinters pull muscles. Randle El has exerted himself to the point where his body is getting accustomed to. He has been a spot player and returner, but now it's full time and he is still returning. So he is putting a lot of stress on his legs. The way he cuts, he cuts on a dime. That's got to be extremely difficult the way this guy cuts. I think that Moss, Randle El and Washington are superior work ethic guys. You aren't going to find anyone that works as hard as Marcus Washington. It just happens. It's a lot of work between the OTAs, all the running that they do in mini camp and camp.

KS- Did you notice a glaring difference in the playcalling this past Sunday?

DW- It was more of what I expect from Al Saunders. I really think that we saw his personality. They ran some shotgun with Portis, with Jason at WR. I mean, they were doing some things that I certainly hadn't seen in the Gibbs package of the old days, but that's good. That's really good. It looked like some of the other teams that you see on Sundays.

KS- Well, the Packers are up next. Their offense has been putting up impressive numbers, but it's no secret that their running game hasn't been that spectacular. What do you think they will try to do on Sunday against Washington?

DW- They are going to throw a lot of short, intermediate passes and be patient, unlike Detroit. You are going to see Green Bay execute it with the master at the controls, and he has some guys that can get downfield in Jennings and Driver along with Franks the TE. They have the whole package. Now, they don't run the ball well enough to get you to buy into their play action, so they kind of have to telegraph what they are going to do. If the front four can put pressure on the QB, then it will be a little bit like it was last week. The defensive strategy has to change a little bit. remember, this is Brett Favre. The key to this game though defensively is they have to tackle well. You know they are going to throw a lot of short passes, so tackling is going to be very important.

Doc, I finally figured out why you call Mike Sellers and a couple of others, "caveman." Cavemen lived during the stone age and it was very obvious today during the Packers game that Sellers among others have hands of stone. They can't catch the ball, which in Seller's case makes him a totally one dimensional player regardless of his size. Until he learns to catch the ball, caveman is indeed an appropriate name for him.

Mike Sellers has way too many receiving TDs for this team for that comment to have any merit. The guy has had one drop in each of the last two games by my count.
