It only was a courtesy interview, like so many others Gregg Williams had done at the request of colleagues in the coaching fraternity. Williams, the Washington Redskins' assistant head coach-defense, wasn't interested in hiring Kirk Olivadotti, a young assistant on former Redskins staffs, but agreed to meet with him as a favor to Olivadotti's father, Tom, a longtime NFL defensive coach.

Williams said he openly displayed his lack of interest at the beginning of the interview, performing other tasks at his office desk while Olivadotti spoke. Quickly, however, Olivadotti got Williams's attention, impressing Williams with his preparedness and commitment to detail, prompting Williams and Coach Joe Gibbs to change course.

Great article. I like how the players are so positive about this young coach. That seems a rarity these days. I predict he has a great future in the NFL or even college (since Saban wanted him at one point with the Dolphins). He might be a natural coach.

Am I the only one who thinks having Kirk over Dale is one of the reasons our linebackers are playing so much better this year?

Great article. And no, I at least join you in thinking he is a big difference maker. Interesting we are denying him interviews elsewhere - we must have comparable level plans. And the touch about giving the players written analyses - priceless.

no, i agree with you completely

hope we can keep him for longer, but it sounds like he is on the short route to being a DC

Absolutely not. IMO the adition of landry and the subtraction of Lindsey are #1 and #2 for the defensive turnaround. Olivadotti is a great find and I hope he sticks around to becomee our next DC someday.

I love this guy. I dont think we will be able to keep him after next year. Unless we bump him up to Coordinator.

He needs to be kept around here. Guys like this are the reason some teams become champions good young detail oriented coaches.

Maybe If GW becomes the new head man post gibbs he can be elevated to D coordinator or if GW leaves next after this season he can be D Coordinator.

He'll be a head coach soon in the league.
