Comcast post-game show mentioned something between Williams and Clinton on the sideline. I guess Williams had some words for Clinton. They said some cameras should have caught it but they didn't show it. I guess we'll see if anything comes out about this.

They said during the game, that after his fumble, Portis tried to talk to Williams, but WIlliams ignored him.

I saw it. Clinton wanted to tell him something after his fumble (probably "sorry"), but GW didn't wanna hear it and waved him off.

Personally, I hope Williams lit him up. I'm really tired of this guy's far-too casual attitude.
Yeah, I know it's a case of if he's producing, we all love it and think the guy's hilarious and if he isn't, we don't. But the thing is, he ISN'T producing and he's costing the team with his fumbles.

I wouldn't want to talk to him either...BUT this is why I don't want GW as my he3ad coach, he is too tempermental

I see no problem there since Gregg should be focusing in on trying to stop GB.

Williams should have said "I can't talk now, you put my defense on the field in the red zone."

Just think how frustrating it is for him, though. He puts together a killer gameplan and once again shuts down the top passing team in the league.
Meanwhile, on the offensive side, they are fumbling, dropping passes, overthrowing receivers who have sure touchdowns, etc. Gotta be incredibly tough for him.

No issue in my mind as long as GW talks to Clinton later. Hopefully what he says is something along the lines of...
Never mind, I can't think of anything without using profanity.

I agree...but Williams has a habit of throwing temper tantrums in Buffalo and Now here. When you are Parcells you can get away with it, not Williams IMO

SOme highlights on Williams' interview on Comcast:
Jason's play inspired the defense. Said he played "gallantly" and called him a true "warrior."
Said Taylor had a great game, but also said that if he'd made that first pick, he would've scored.
Too many opportunities missed (blah, blah, blah)
Said the team needs to work on catching the football on both sides of the ball. "Can't drop footballs and win a close ball game."
Wasn't even asked about Portis in typical softball fashion.

Bottom line is CP needs to fix his fumbilitis ASAP. I can't take it anymore!!!! He's already put 3 on the ground this season and as far as I can remember, that's unacceptable on a Joe Gibbs team. All of his fumbles have been during huge points in ballgames. Even though Green Bay wasn't able to capitalize on the turnover it still changed the momentum of the game. HOLD ONTO THE DAMN BALL!!!!!!

Who else noticed the way Portis was running with the ball on that swing pass? It was exactly like Deion Sanders. Why is a running back running with the ball like that? Secure the ball...isn't that a very elementary concept for anyone who runs with the ball? Putting the ball on the ground is unacceptable and correctable (see Tiki). Byner is the one who has to fix this.

That's probably exactly what happened.

It definitely kills momentum. I don't care whether it was raining or not, it's these guys' jobs to make catches and hold on to the ball and they couldn't do either.

Honestly I don't have a problem with that incident. Seeing it when it happened, it just appeared that Portis was sorry for what happened and wanted to tell GW, and GW was busy organizing the D, so he didn't have time to listen, so he waived him off. But he didn't throw a fit or anything. Actually, he didn't even turn around to look at him. He just waived his hand in the air like he was saying "not now Clinton".

Sounds like it was just another media attempt to turn something into a controversy, then.

Well, what exactly is he supposed to say/do? Give him a hug?
As a baseball pitcher, I know how Williams feels. Plenty of times, guys would commit errors, come up to me, and say 'sorry.' You can't say what you really want to tell them, so why bother.

Perhaps if he participated in preseason, he would be able to hold onto the ball when being tackled?

not a big deal. Portis was saying, "help me out of the crap i put us in." and GW was busy gettin D on the field, and he didn't give him a face, a mad wave or fit. Just a shrug of the hand to say not now kid, we will do the best we can
not a big deal, but this team is missing IT. Campbell may have it, but as a team they don't. They get the oppurtunities do the hard work, and then screw up at the end. I believe we will get that IT soon, but will we lose games as we try to get it? thats the question

yes sir, CP did himself in when he continued talking about how he hates practice and playing in pre-season - well it seems like that is going to bite him on the butt -- he's not in football shape and he's not producing at a level that he should be -- his knee is still a problem and why? he keeps saying he's 100% but clearly he is not -- if he continues to treat football like a secondary interest....

GW had every right to be angry. Still, he just did not want to hear Clinton's excuses. Clinton and Moss had a lousy game. GW simply did not want to hear at the time.
He also did a great job of putting us in a position to win. The D played well and it took a fumble by Moss run back for a TD to take us down.

I didn't see what happened with Portis and Williams but I would think that Williams would be more focused on fixing Clintons mess up. I hear some of you talking about Portis sitting out of pre season but when he was sidelined last season, I wished he would have sat out last preseason.
He will hit his stride. We always get to a point in games when we have to abandon the run. We always seem to do it too soon. I thought we we would use the run to play option off of it but we couldn't get the run going again after the first half.

The big pink elephant inthe room with Portis and Betts is that you can't run to the right side and teams know it. It does not exscuse Portis fumbling but you wanna know why low production from Portis and Betts is a non factor it is the offensive line plain and simple. Not trying to rag on Wade and Fabini because in the words of Dennis Green they are who we thought they were. But to think that the fact we can't run the ball is the fault of Sanders, Portis or Betts is a little over simplistic.

As much as I have railed against Williams over the last couple of years, I don't blame him one bit for not wanting to talk to Portis at that point.

exactly.. GW had a defense to run at that point.. time enough to chat with CP afterwards
given the job that GW did in curtailing the packer offense, i am totally in his corner on that one

cant run wide to the left either.. the only thing that works is quick hitters ..
inthe first half we had a few decent stretch runs.. but not inthe second half. the packer defense adjusted and every one of those wide runs ended up getting stopped for little or no gain

Well, that was the adjustment. The Pack noticed at halftime that we never ran the stretch, or much else really, to the right so they just stacked the left side against the run. They could win matchups without help on the right.

To be fair to Williams, if he is calling defense to stop Green Bay inside the red zone it's not the best time for a heart-to-heart.

Teams will be doing this against us for the rest of the season. As far as I can tell, the best remedy is something we should all be familiar with - the good ol' counter-tre to the right.

Portis VS Williams does not mean anything. But what i love is williams is more envolved in the team than a defensive coordinator. He ask Gibbs to call time outs and in critical moments you always see him next to Gibbs.

I think we are looking way far into this. I'm sure this type of thing happens all of the time; yet we only heard about it b/c Aikman mentioned it in passing. I agree with youngestson. GW was too busy trying to coach his defense than to hear from the RB who just put the ball on the RedZone carpet.

I like that idea - Kendall is very mobile and great out in space. You could also throw Yoder and Sellers over on the right side to help Wade and Fabini. Then, get Cooley and Kendall out in front, and you've got a pretty solid wall of blockers out in front.
Just an idea... :)

Williams should have said "I can't talk now, you put my defense on the field in the red zone."
From the way it appeared, it looked just like that. Not in so many words, but that's what the dismissal/hand wave was to me.
Why is Portis talking to the D coordinator anyways? He needs to be apologizing to his offensive coaches and teamates.

I don't think he was being tempermental at the time, though I do acknowledge that he does have his fits. I think GW was trying to tel Portis that he doesn't want/need to hear his excuses, and that he needs to fix whatever he's doing on the field, that way he doesn't need to give an apology to the coaches at all
