Dolphins officially giving up on the passing game. No word what's going to Miamia in exchange.

It's the same offensive system, the transition should be seamless.

Good question. Vincent Jackson is clearly their go-to wide receiver...and we all know Gates is their go-to guy overall. Mix in the LT-Experience and there doesn't seem a whole lot of touches left over.

I'd guess that he will play a minimal part in their offense. 2-3 catches a game, tops...and very few chances for touchdowns.

Unless Jackson is going to Miami in the deal--which makes sense.

Good move by SD (depending on what they gave up). Chambers is a beast.

SD sends Miami a 2nd rounder in the deal. Wow.

I doubt it. The Chargers really like Jackson, and he has been pretty good at stretching the field and making plays ;with what few opportunities a WR actually gets in this offense.

Yeah, which makes this deal even more puzzling. They expended a first on Craig Davis for that X Wr role. So, they've given up a first and a second trying to fill one position in 6 games.

I think this helps his fantasy value actually......

Wow...I just now read your post saying they gave up a 2nd rounder. Seems very high considering what you and I have already pointed about about the Chargers and the WR position.

I'm wondering if this is a security blanket for Rivers. He hasn't had the best start. (7 INTs for 7 TDs)

2nd rounder for Chambers. Good move for Miami considering their playoff aspirations are gone.

with the potential for the number 1 overall, they could end up with 2 picks in the top 35 and then another 2nd...that's a pretty nice young nucleus assuming they don't pull another Ginn.

this is the time to do it, while cameron is in his first year and the wolves arent at his heels

I agree. I just canceled all the trades in which I had offered Chambers.

IMO the reason the Chargers offense has had such difficulty getting the ball to the WR's is because they haven't had enough talent at the position. Jackson has been very streak and hasn't developed into a #1 threat, and its hard to expect a whole lot out of Daivs this year. He's looked good on some underneath stuff, but that's about it. I think Chambers immediately becomes the go to receiver along with Gates.

Also, this will definitely help the running game. Itsgoing to be a lot harder to stack the box against LT with Chambers, Gates, and Jackson going out in patterns. I don't know about giving up a second round pick, but I guess since LT isn't getting any younger they feel like thier window is closing. If SD can get the defense together they might still make some noise this season.

At first thought it is a dumb move for the Dolphins. What receivers do they have left? But then again, what QB do they have to throw to the receivers? Cleo Lemon? Hhmmmm. They are clearly in rebuilding mode, Milwaukee Brewer style.

Bet they wish they hadn't spent all that money on Joey Porter.

SO what direction do they go in the first round? QB? Jake Long? Dorsey?

Trade out is my guess right now. If their stuck, I'm betting Dorsey.

thats high for an aged reciever but he is a good reciever and will improve their offense.the dolphins are terrible so they win in this trade if they can figure out to do with 3 picks in the first 64.

Aged?

He's only 29. Barring injury, he's got a good 5-6 years left in him. So in essence the chargers spent a second round pick on a receiver who'll probably average about 800 yds and 4-5 TD for the next five years. If I drafted a receiver in the second round and got that kind of production I wouldn't be upset.

An extra first day pick gives the Dolphins more quality young players to build their team around. If their smart (big if I know) they'll concentrate on the offensive line.

I see this as a win-win for both sides of the deal.

I see this as the Dolphins throwing in the towel on the season and "playing" for the top draft pick. If I were a Phins fan, I'd be pissed.

Chambers had more catches than entire WR corp did combined. He was their only real receiving threat. They only get much, much worse without him. If Ronnie Brown wasn't already seeing 8 or 9 in the box, then he will now.

You hate to see teams playing for the upcoming draft...

At 0-6, I think the season is long gone for them (after 6 weeks, they are 6 games behind in their division..lmao), and I don't know how much worse they can get.
If I were them, I would be doing the same. Since it's obvious you're gonna pick high, try to pick as high as possible (without flat-out tanking games) and as often as possible. Actually, if I were them, I would be trying to trade guys like Booker and Taylor as well. They are gonna be long gone anyways (retired) before the Dolphins can be competitive again.
