and its looking unlikely rabach will play as he was downgraded, pucillo might get the start. sampson was signed because heyer is also unlikely to suit up, boyd became the cut. springs attended meetings and a walkthrough today.

Not good... Anybody have a solid description of how Pucillo played in Rabach's place? I don't remember him too much.

I feel bad for Shawn, I couldn't imagine playing with that on his mind.

I am pleasantly surprised that Springs is playing. I think that the deference and sensitivity that the Skins have shown to him this week, as well as the fact that apparently he found out about his dad last Saturday and played against the Packers anway, signals a warming trend in the relationship. I don't want to speculate on Springs's future at a sensitive time in his life, but in my mind maybe this means that Springs stays a Redskins in 2008.

In any event, I am praying for the Springs family.

Mike goin to have to play for casey, thats really really awful. He is average at best.

The cardinals already are blitz happy, and this will just send more guys into the A gap. Not to mentioin protection calls, and running will be difficult.

We are so close to being the team that we all want the skins to be, if not for the o-line injuries we would be there. or even a few, not 4 injuries of the top 7 lineman!

sampson for boyd sounds like a good deal.. then boyd can go on the PS as he is eligible

he has to be playing with a heavy heart, but it might be the best therapy for him to be active

Im extremely proud of Shawn Springs, I can only imagine what hes going through, its gotta be tough. To come out and play to try to help his team is extraordinary, I commend him and am absolutely proud to have him as a Redskin.

pucillo was campbells backup center at auburn at one time, if rabach cant go and if pucillo were to go down who plays center? most likely kendall. i dont know how blitz happy the cardinals defense is known for being, but our oline needs to win the individual battles with darnell dockett.

Can I get some Redskins love for Sean Springs. He could have taken this week off and no one would have batted an eye. A weaker opponent and the situation with his father, it takes heart to strap it on and play.

If you are a sean springs fan then get a good look guys, he probably wont be here next year and we will miss him.

glad to hear that Shawn will be with us on sunday --i hope that he will be able to feel all the love and support coming from the fans and use it to help him get thru this tough time -- i'm sure his burgundy and gold brothers are doing everything they can think of to help him

demulling and kendall could both play center.. my guess it would be demulling in an effort to leave the left side of the line as strong as possible

we just have to trust that no more bad injuries happen to the o line.. we really have been snakebit in that area

amen, on that.

but sometimes a person can channel all those negative emotions into
inspired play.. remember when the giants lost an owner? they played inspired football to honor his memory.. hopefully shawn has a game for the ages to honor his dad

Shawn's pops was a baller, he knows what pop wants and thats to give it to the Cards on Sunday He'll dedicate this game to his dad I'm sure.

I ache for him and his family a sad situation.

I give Gibbs and GW major props for how they handled the situation. One reason I pull hard for Gibbs and give him little benefits of the doubts because he's one of the great human being EVER.

Not having Rabach is a serious blow. One good thing JC and Pucillo are familiar with each other from college.

Have to agree with every point.:goodpost:

The only thing I have to add here is that Dansby is out and thier Safety is out as well. From what I hear, Dasby is a beast, so that may mean Cooley has another game. With the safety out (heard he was pretty good as well) we give JC a little time, ( I know patch work line.... but we have Buges) Moss and ARE could be :mfast:
gone DEEP!!!!!

I think it would be Kendall because the C makes the line blocking calls, and Kendall has been here 8 weeks to DeMulling's 3. I just hope we don't look like a high school team trying to play pro ball, not because of talent or effort, but due to lack of familiarity with the system and lack of cohesion.

i forgot about demulling being a G/C, and i dont know if i want to see kendall at center anyways after watching him with the jets in preseason(unless he was purposely tanking the shotgun snaps to piss the jets management off in his contract dispute)

Springs played a great game. Usually, when a CB is credited with a lot of tackles, it is because he is getting beaten like a drum. Not Springs-he came up and made some great tackles on guys he wasn't even covering. And he helped limit Boldin-I don't think I have ever seen a stat line like Boldin's yesterday (something like 8 receptions for 35 yards). My hat's off to Springs for playing, and at such a high level, the last two weeks knowing his father's condition. In my book, he is indispensible to this defense, even with the de-emphasis on man-to-man coverage in Williams' new defensive scheme.

Did anybody notice Alan Branch walking Pucillo back 5 yards into the backfield? I didn't see much of Branch after that, but boy it made me wonder about Pucillo, and made me angry that we would have been in position to draft Branch if we hadn't given away our draft choices last year!

The Cards moved up in the draft to get Branch (1st pick in the second round) and I don't know about you but I'm pretty satisfied with our DTs.... it's DEs we're in need of. Heck we could have gotten Amobi Okoye with our first pick if we really needed a DT!?!?!

i agree with that although griffin is 31 we may need to try to develop maybe another dt after monty, golston, alexander, and ps his name should not be boschetti lol

That is what I was thinking when I started this unpopular thread a while back...

I am satisfied with our DTs, but that play seemed to confirm to me that Branch has the talent to be a dominant, Pro-Bowl type of DT, which I don't know if Montgomery can be. It was only one play, against a backup C no less, and I probably got too caught up in it. But if we had not traded away our 2nd and 4th picks in last year's draft, we could easily have moved up to get Branch. Although McIntosh is playing very well, and he cost us the 2nd (along with a 6th) to move up 20 or so spots to draft him in 2006.

We still have 6 picks in the 2008 and 2009 drafts, and I am hoping that we can them, and use them to select good young players. I think if this season is teaching us anything, it is that we need to fill this roster with young talent. We shouldn't have to rely on a washed-up OT to play OG for the first time in his career, for almost an entire year. Shades of Cory Raymer!

in retrospect, he played a whale of a game and i have to believe it was therapeutic for him on some level
