Good article. I agree with pretty much everything. Only one thing I wanted to point out: I wish the Redskins were that good (18th) in the running game. They are actually tied for 25th in yards per carry. That is really horrible. When you add that to the fact that our passing game is non-existent (zero TD to our receivers), you really get an idea of how pathetically bad we are on offense.

I find it hard to believe too that they have us at 105 per game rushing but it's true. 735 total rushing yards in 7 games.

Yeah. The problem is that we are 7th in rushing attempts and 18th in rushing yards. That's not very good at all.
We have at least 170 rushing yards less than every other team in the top 10 in rushig attemps.

Betts sudden dislike for hitting holes, the offensive line being piecemeal, and portis being off all season are the reasons. That and at best meh play calling.
I get upset just thinking about it. I miss Thomas.

Add in the fact that, over the last 2 weeks we gave up 25 mins in TOP while rushing the 7th most times in the NFL and it becomes a head-scratcher. Isn't TOP related to running the ball? I guess not when the results of running so much is 3 and out. Someday, maybe Gibbs will notice this and stop undermining GW.

Nice write up. I like the game plan. Hopefully we don't sleep on the fact that they are starting a rookie playing his 2nd game. We better come out with plans to confuse the heck out of him and blitz from every angle. I think a 1-7 Jets team is what we need to get back on track ... of course the Jets could be thinking a humiliated Skins team is what they need too.

I haven't looked at the TOP numbers lately but we weren't doing that badly, overall, there through the first 4 games or so. Last week can be thrown out, since we only forced one punt and one turnover (which we gave right back) for the entire game. Over the rest of the games, it is the 2nd half where we have lost the TOP battle and the defense has as much to do with it as the offense, IMO. I'm not saying that the offense has played as well as the defense, not even close but we are, admittedly by the coaches, leaning on our defense and them playing soft zones all day isn't helping things. You have to be aggressive on one side of the ball. Since our defense is our more talented unit, they need to be the ones bringing down all hell for 4 quarters. Hopefully along the way, our offense can start pitching in.

This is the game in which we need to let Campbell throw the ball at least 30 times. Going against a so-so secondary and a D-Line without any really threatening pass rushers, we should be able to attack down the field.
On defense, I hope GW doesn't just sit back and play zone. We need to attack Clemens with some blitzes.

I disagree on the first part of your post. We are a running team, like it or not, and the sooner we get that working, the sooner our offense can start doing their part in controlling and winning games. Right now, any time Jason has to throw 30 or more times in a game, I would bet that we lose. I'm not saying that we shouldn't pass, as a lot depends on the situation but in order to get our offense back on track, we need to start with our bread and butter, which is the running game. This should be a good time to work on that aspect, since it is doubtful that we need a lot of points to win.
Defensively, GW should be licking his chops this week. After playing basically the same schemes for the last 5 games and getting totally exposed last week, this is the time to change things up. Besides all that, we are facing an inexperienced QB that has only one start under his belt. If we don't mix things up and force at least 2 turnovers from him, I will be shocked and disappointed. We should be able to hold them to one score max. We could even get a shut out for the first time in 16 years.

Good job Mike. I would like to see four thing occur on offense today, and that does not inlcude overall general improvement, especially in pass protection.
1. I would like to see the Redskins use the money they wrapped up in Ladell Betts and get him more involved in the offense. I am not a big fan of the way Portis is running the ball right now and Betts needs ot get more opportunities.
2. Again, witht he struggling and injuuries we have in the receiving unit, I would like to see personal problems, personal vendettas and such, the childish type gurdges put aside, and the offense get Brandon Lloyd more involved in the game plan. Whta doe sit hurt? Not like we have a passing offense right now.
3. At WR again, considering the struggled, we need to get Keenan McCardell more involved. he has the surest hands on t he team and the fact we do not use him is one of those puzzling decision by Gibbs, one of many.
4. overall, just as I voted in the hR poll, open the offense up and ptu the game in JC's hands, or should I say, his arm. I comfortable with that and if we lose riding JCs arm, well it is a helluva alot better than running this pathetic offense.
