Mon, 8 Sep 2003 17:46:23 -0700
Updating previous reports, Mark Zuckerman, of the Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins WR Taylor Jacobs (pancreas) suffered a bruised pancreas. Jacobs participated in individual drills Monday, Sept. 8. He will have a CAT scan performed Tuesday, Sept. 9, which will determine whether he can practice and play Sunday, Sept. 14 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Thanks, Mike. I doubt we can count on much from Jacobs this week.

I dont see him play at all. Where was Russell last week? Was he active?

I believe he was inactive, but still managed to drop three passes.

I don't think they will let him play. Quite an odd injury!

Let him heal, we can afford it.

Argree, but if he doesn't play this week, should his opening game be against the Giants??!!
They were measuring up the Rams recievers this past Sunday. Ouch!
Of coarse I believe Warners passes were floating on him, leaving the WRs exposed. I didn't see DW enter Kurts body.

I read in the Washington Post earlier that Jacobs and Flemister will not play against Atlanta. I forget what it said about Flemister. I didn't know he was hurt.

I'd rather not have him out there playing if he's not 100%, especially against the Giants. I think we'll be okay with the receivers.

McCants is doing just fine at #3. Russell should get involved this week.

The biggest thing hurting Zeron Flemister is Robert Royal.

Flemister has a strained Achilles

We'll get a nic elong look at Royal, which seem to hang onto the ball and made a key first down catch last week. It will be interesting to see if there is a different game plan this week.

Zone blitzing defense is gambling that a DE or LB can cover a WR or RB long enough that the blitzing DB or LB can disrupt the play or get the sack. McCants, Gardener and Royal have to play well on passing downs. No more 50/50! If they catch the hot throws that will be forced, they could be gone. That is where the game may be won. That D is not like a cover two that keeps you underneath. There may be room to run after the catch.

I think Flemisters biggest problem is his hands, I am starting to wonder if Russell or Flem could catch a cold:banghead: :banghead: :D

Flem made a decent catch, but I still like Royal over him. Royal looks solid, has good hands, i just dont se ehow they named Flemister starter, i just dont get it. He certainly did nothing in the pre-season to win the job.

Jacobs must be ancy to get out there with the impact some of the rookie wideouts had this weekend. I still think we should hold him out another week and unwrap him all over the Giants.
It might not be the smartest thing, but we'll need all the help we can get against the G-men.

The G-men, while they did do a good job forcing 4 fumbles on Warner, still gave up over 340 yards of passing offense to a post-concussion QB. Holt and Bruce both had over 100 yards of receiving against them...so lets not put the Giants on the pass defense pedestal just yet. Warner also had 8 completed passes of 16 yards or more. Not bad, considering the Giants knew the Rams were throwing on most downs.
Also, Jansen OWNS Michael Strahan....so if he can continue to hold him in check, it could be a great day for our receivers. We stop the pass rush, and give Ramsey some time, it could be a long day for the Giants. This could be a good "coming out" party for Young Tyler.
