Good thing cause he would have been too physical for Smoot. Can we double team Price?

I dont know about too physical, I think we match up with Atlanta better than Dallas did w/ or w/o Finneran.

Too physical? This is the NFL. Smoot has played against other "physical" WRs I'm sure. If he couldn't he wouldn't be in the NFL.

I agree with WRSK1NS. We match up very well with the Falcons.

The beauty and advantage of Bailey means we SHOULDN'T have to double team Price.

Smoot had to go against D.Boston a couple of times and that is one of the MOST phyical WR there is. Finneran has that 6'5" frame but only 210 lbs. Not as phyical as people are lead to believe - Smoot would have done OK ....... But now its not even debatable!!!

Yeah...and Smoot gave up 100 yards to Boston last year!

Finneran is a VERY talented receiver...and will be a factor when he returns. He was essentially overlooked last year, since Vick was running for his life on every other down.

We are VERY lucky having Finneran out of the lineup.

Boston could have had 200 yards against SMoot....as long as Smoot kept him out of the endzone I could care less. Smoot would have held his own...

Oh I didn't say he did well against him - I'm just talking about going against phyical type receivers. As for Finneran, he may have some ups but as for being a "VERY talented" receiver - don't agree (yet).
He's been in the league since 99, only had one good year - 2002 (56 rec / 838 yds / 6 td ). Not bad for a #2 or #3 and that's probably what he'll always be regarded as: A "solid" #2 type receiver.

With finn being out, who becomes the starter?

Right on Robert! This should be the most compelling reason to keep Champ. With him, you have 10 guys to cover the rest of the field. Without him you have 9 if they have a good WR. You just tell Champ to cover WR1 and then plan your defense.

Finneran would have given Smoot a tough day for sure Antinio Bryant was to physical for Smoot some on this board need to take off the Smoot glasses...

Hell, why not go ahead and bench Smoot since he can't handle his own on a football field. Since we have guys here who know NFL talent better than the coaches do.

Actually, Mike...Boston did score a TD on Smoot in week one last year, to go alongside his 138 yards.

Quentin McCord gets the nod at #2 and Jimmy Harris and Terrence Edwards will rotate time at #3 and #4.

OH yeah, I agree....he is never going to be a stud WR at the #1 spot...but can can be a major factor in games for the Falcons at #2 for years to come. He has only had one good year, because he has only been a starter for one season. Rod Gardner had less yards and less TDs than Finn did in his first full starting season. He is a big play threat, and I'm just glad he isn't playing. BTW - of his 9 career TDs, 6 of them were for 40 yards or longer.

Didn't Smoot beef up in the offseason. Well, he better use that extra muscle to his advantage.

Sorry about the 1 TD. Didn't know about that. But how can we blame Smoot for the entire 138 yards receiving? Seems to me, that Champ should be the one covering him for the majority of the game since Boston is the #1 WR.

Champ gets burnt too and he's supposedly the best cover corner in the league. My main point for sticking up for Smoot is that I have faith in him. And I didn't understand why Skins fans would make the comment that Finneran [of all WRs] would have given Smoot problems.

I don't think Smoot is a bad corner. I do see him having trouble against taller receivers, like Finneran. btw That is Finneran's m.o., the QB thows it up for grabs and he out-hieghts the CB. He is also a very goo blocker. I'm hoping his replacements are not.

I think the Falcons have made some dumb moves at WR. They drafted two WRs and no NT this year. They move Trevor Gaylor, who in my opinion is their best reciever, down the depth chart. Gaylor SHOULD be the starter on Sunday, but lucky for us, he is not.
