I would agree with you if Roy struggled in recruiting but he doesn't so this isn't going to affect him at all.

I really don't care. If you as a Carolina fan are ok with it, why would it matter to me? Just remember this was your position when a recruit chooses Kansas over Carolina.

As a MD/Gtown fan, I personally would not be OK with it for the reasons I stated above. The HC is the public face of the program. The only program he should represent is the one he coaches.

Roy has lost on recruits before but he just goes out and gets others. This past recruiting season he lost out on Delvon Roe, Jrue Holiday, Samardo Samuels, Aminu, etc and all he did was go get commitments from Ed Davis, Tyler Zeller, and Larry Drew.

He's always going to get players and great one's at that, so what if he loses one to Kansas?

Quit now Sean. Roy is infallible.

Yea. Silly me.

Just so Im clear CHM. If Roy wasn't a fantastic recruiter, you would have an issue with him wearing the mascot of his former coaching job, but since he is a great recruiter, and that stunt MAY (big emphasis on may) cost him a recruit or 2 to Kansas it's All good.

JT III is a great recruiter as well, but I certainly wouldn't take kindly to him in Princeton garb on national tv, but Im silly like that. I think that loyalty should be outwardly displayed to the program you coach not the one you used to coach.

I don't have a problem with it period, I think all this uproar is silly myself. I'm just responding to your point that it could hurt him because recruits and his players aren't going to appreciate it. I just don't think it's going to make any difference at all. I think this bothers fans more than it does the players or recruits.

In fact this is a quote from Tyler Zeller, an incoming recruit about the situation.

“I thought it was pretty cool. He did coach Kansas, so he has some loyalty to them. I thought it was pretty cool, him wearing that,” Zeller said. “I don’t think it really matters, just because he used to coach there so he knows people there, he has loyalty to the school – I just think that’s the kind of person he is.”

So a recruit who is committed didn't have a problem with it. Go figure.:Fruit:

You're right it does bother fans more than player or recruits, but fans are the ones players, recruits and coaches are accountable to.

Like I said, Gary Williams in Ohio State Garb is not a site I want to see. He coaches at Maryland.

Well that's where you and I differ, I for one could care less. When I saw it I thought it was pretty neat. He did the same thing in '93 when Kansas lost to UNC. He is a supporter of people he's close to and that's fine by me.

I realize I'm in the minority but I'm fine with that, it doesn't mean I'm wrong. Roy did absolutely nothing wrong here imo, now if you want to discuss his mistakes during the game vs Kansas then that's when you will see me criticize him but to rip him for wearing a sticker? Nah, you aren't going to see that from me, I just don't think it's a big deal and I'm surprised people are as upset with him as they are, it's just a sticker.

But oh well that's just me I guess.

I agree 100%. Here is my example. (A bit far fetched, but still...) If Dave Leitao and UVA lost to UCONN in the Final Four and then he showed up 2 days later with a Huskie on his blazer to cheer on his old mentor, Jim Calhoun, in the Championship game I'd be pissed too. I don't think it sends the best message to his current players who just had their season ended by the exact same team you are rooting for. I could care less if Leitao spend 2 decades coaching under the man...

If Dave Leitao wants to present Calhoun an award at a banquet later in the year...or write a forward for his book; then by all means, go for it. But don't you dare wear the enemy's colors 2 days after they knocked you out of the tourney.

Precisely. Hell, even if you showed up at the game and wore a solid black shirt (Like Roy did) and was cheering for them (Vocally and obviously) I have no problem with that. One doesn't need to wear a mascot to demonstrate support for those one cares about.

Didn't know where to stick this article. Very interesting piece on what former Boston College and Ohio State star Scoonie Penn has been up to the past few years. He's making good money playing in Turkey and other garden spots overseas.
