A Plano-based personal trainer pleaded guilty Tuesday to a federal charge involving steroids.

David Jacobs, 35, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute steroids.

He admitted that from February 2006 to April 2007, he distributed more than 40,000 units of anabolic steroids and “several thousand units of human growth hormone.”

The plea agreement was sealed.

As part of the plea deal, Mr. Jacobs told KTVT-TV he will tell federal investigators about professional athletes who use steroids. He did not identify any players, but his supplements store's Web site claims he offered guidance to Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons players.

Ha! Unless it breaks before Sunday, I can't imagine this being of immediate help to us.

Fun to speculate who might be on the chopping block, though. TO? Rhomo is too spindly. Ware? Ron Mexico pre-doggate?

I don't know if I'd call Homo 'spindly,' but he aint TO that's for sure.
TO is a huge possbility, but what about Rodney Harrison? And I've always been suspicious of Ray Lewis, especially looking at his pre-game rituals. Tony Gonzalez?

I'd love to see TO or Ware or Roy Williams be found guilty :)

I knew people back when I was young who "offered guidance" to others in the neighborhood. This "guidance" usually came in nickel and dime bags.

The NFL should ban players from being within 50 feet of this guy.

A man who pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of illegal steroids has given federal authorities the names of former and current Dallas Cowboys players who he says he supplied with performance-enhancing drugs, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

well, he's in hot water over this. he has information. why has he not already been forced to release it? seeing as to how we play the cowboys this weekend, it'd be nice to get their steroid users out. same to whoever plays the falcons.

I think there should be a full investigation today and concluded by Thursday giving the commissioner enough time to make a decision to suspend all the Cowboys involved on Friday, which I am quite certain include Marion Barber, Romo, TO, Witten, Crayton, Roy Williams, Newman, Spears, Spencer and Ware. And actually, they should consider testing Brad Johnson too.

LOL, may as well add Jason Garrett to the mix, as well. Maybe Wade Wilson wasn't alone.

Why stop there?
I think every player on America's team should be subject to random drug testing. It's called being proactive -- and it's not as if they should be trusted, they're Boys for God's sake. Drugs is just their thing.

Dallas, TX (AP) - Halfway through what most NFL fans consider to be a fantastic rookie season, Dallas Cowboys kicker Nick Folk was seen being questioned by local authorities after the team's practice Monday. Following practice, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones called a press conference, hoping to cut off rumors of Folks' legal issues.

"We here in Dallas stand firmly behind Nick and will provide as much support as possible while the legal proceedings are occurring," Jones commented, before leaving the podium amidst a flurry of reporter questions and flashbulbs.

An anonymous source close to the team reported to the Dallas Morning News, however, that the rookie may be in more trouble than Jones and the Cowboys organization is letting on.

He is quoted in Tuesday's edition of the Dallas periodical that, "Folk was not only receiving a medical substance, but was using it throughout the season and attempting to distribute it among his teammates for profit."

While initial reports are still being filed, the source at the Dallas Morning News, along with an inside source with the local police are both reporting the drug in question is Paclitaxel (click for more information on the drug in question) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraxane), a drug used in chemotherapy treatments. More information will be provided as available.

STEROIDS DISTRIBUTOR SNITCHES ON COWBOYS

The Dallas Morning News reports that the man who pleaded guilty on Tuesday to possession of steroids with intent to distribute has provided to federal investigators the names of former -- and current -- members of the Dallas Cowboys to whom he provided steroids.

David Jacobs, 35, pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in identifying the persons to whom steroids were distributed.

It's an unusual move; usually, prosecutors start with the folks on the bottom of the operation and work upstream. In this case, however, the high profile of Jacobs' customers is prompting authorities to move in the other direction. Celebrities and other well-known people make for desirable targets of such prosecutions because the chilling effect is much more pronounced, due to the media coverage of the situation.

The names of the players in question have not yet been released publicly.

Matt Lehr was named(he's with the Bucs now) (http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/111507dnmetsteroids.228ec48.html)

A former Dallas Cowboys lineman who was suspended while he played for the Atlanta Falcons for violating the league's banned substance policy is among the names that a Plano personal trainer has supplied to authorities who are investigating steroid ring, according to sources familiar with the inquiry.

Matthew Lehr, 28, who currently plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, could not be reached for comment, and his agent did not return phone calls. Buccaneers spokesman Jeff Kamis said Wednesday that the team had no comment on the investigation.

The trainer has not publicly named any of the players he says he has supplied with drugs. None of the claims of David Jacobs, 35, have been publicly verified, and no evidence has been released related to the involvement of the athletes.

He has, however, agreed to cooperate with authorities in exchange for probation and has given investigators names of current and former Cowboys players he claims to have supplied with steroids.

Mr. Jacobs pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Sherman to conspiring to possess with intent to distribute anabolic steroids, admitting that he trafficked more than 40,000 units of the drug from February 2006 through April of this year, as well as several thousand units of human growth hormone.

If there is anything that will cause Goodell to make a Stern/gambling refs flip-flop it is the involvement of "America's team". Don't hold your breath for meaningful penalties to Dallass to arrive.
