I was here at the office and thought it was an accident..we turned on the TV and thats when the second plane hit...we knew it was no accident after that. I rember distinctly feeling alone in a crowded room that day. R.I.P. and god Bless the families of the victims.

I lived and worked in Alexandria, VA at the time, which is only a few miles from the Pentagon.

The day of the 11th, I was in a training session in Tyson's Corner, VA which was pretty close to where my finance' was working at the time. After hearing about the attacks in NYC and at the Pentagon, as well as MANY false reports about attacks on the Capitol, the FAA building, the National Mall..etc I picked up my wife we headed out of town to Richmond. Its times that this, when you realize that life is never certain...and that family matter so much more than the trivial day-by-day problems.

God Bless the families of the victims...as well as all American's who are in rememberance.

I was in K-Mart when I heard the murmuring, by the time I got in my car and headed home, they had blown up the "Capitol and the State Department".
There were also rumors that Camp David and Ft. Detrick (Near my home) were being attacked.

I came home and turned on the TV just as the first tower fell.

Having just been on top of the south tower one month prior, I was in shock. Then the second one fell and I couldn't stop crying.

Faces from our trip there flashed through my head. The kid that ran the elevator, the lady that took our food order, the guy running the 3D projection room etc...
Did they all die that day? I'll never know.

I had to field phone calls all day from worried family members, since all they heard was "Dulles" "United" "San Francisco" and Hubbo often flew out of Dulles for SF on United.

We won't forget! God Bless the families!

I was about to make my first FedEx delivery. My wife had called and told me about the first plane and how people thought it may have been an accident. While I'm talking to her I hear people in the background in her office screaming "No, No, No" as the second plane hit.

A few minutes later David Haines (news reporter for WPGC here in DC) reported that a plane just hit the Pentagon. By then my mom had called me because she was worried about my wife (she works just several blocks from the US Capitol) and couldn't get through to her.

FedEx then sent urgent messages across all of the computers in our trucks to stay away from government buildings. I minute later, another message came across to bring all trucks back into our station, which truthfully I was already in the process of doing after I found out the Pentagon was hit.

Traffic getting out of the city was crazy. I was trying to get to my oldest son's daycare center and seemed to take hours.

I had just woke up (remember I live in the mountain time zone) and it was all over the TV. I was actually of work that day, so I watched every minute of it. The sight of that second plane was sobering, and to this day all I can think about is revenge for what took place.

I am saddened that we as a country do not make MORE of a big deal about the plane that crashed in the Penn. field. They were the true patriots, and we should embrace them more than any aspect of this tragedy. They prevented evil by sacrificing themselves. They didn't have to do it, but they did it anyway. On a day like today, I remember their actions before I remember the rescuers, or senseless lives that were lost.

jsarno, I've always felt the same way. I also feel as if the people on the other 3 planes don't ever get a mention. In DC there was a bunch of students and their teachers that won a trip to CA. They all died! Those poor kids! One teacher had lost his wife to cancer a few years earlier, now his children are orphans, I bet you, no one even knows their names...

PLEASE don't think I want to take anything away from the brave firefighters and police but, I think you all know what I mean.

As for the NFL....I was glad they cancelled the games that weekend. If they were played to be honest, I just would have not felt right watching. Even my beloved Redskins.

I had just returned home from taking my daughter to school and I turned on the TV and thought I was seeing something that wasn't real. I sat on the edge of my bed till 230 when I had to leave for work, I wanted to stay home but i did not. It is hard to believe it has been 2 years already.

I had just got off work (3rd shift 11pm 7am) and got in my car as the radio station was reporting that a plane had collided with one of the towers. I wasn't home more than a few minutes when I saw the second plane hit the other tower, live. I called my friend who was a former member of the infantry and my father. I tried as best as I could to hold back tears as the towers collapsed.
