Steelers Anthony Smith guaranteed a victory over the Patriots this Sunday. Steelers defensive captain James Farrior says, "Has has to keep his mouth shut."

Confident words for sure. Just what New England needs is more ammo. I can't wait for this game. Pittsburgh has the team recipe to beat NE with great d, very physical, and great running. I also like Roethlisberger in this type of game also but I still think NE will win at home. The Pats have to be thinking about 16-0 all the time now.

I liked Rodney Harrison's response: "Who is Anthony Smith"? LMAO

By the way, when asked by reporters about the pressure associated with guaranteeing wins, he said something like; [paraphrase from SportsCenter] "no problem...I've been a winner all my life". The guys on sportscenter laughed since he played football at Syracuse from 2002 to 2005 where the club only managed 18 total wins in 4 years...or an average of 4-5 wins a season. ;)

I think Pittsburgh's chances of winning the game just dropepd a few percentage points.

Say what you will, but Philadelphia and Baltimore have shown that it's possible to beat the Patriots. Even if they didn't get the job done, the blue print is out there now.

I hope the Steelers live up it. I'd hate it to see the Pats not lose this year.

That's true. What you don't want, however, is to give the Pats any motivation whatsoever. Before these words, I would have expected a tough game, in which the Steelers had a chance of winning. Now, I predict a 135-0 Patriots win. lol

By the way, I really hope the Pats go undefeated.

now that i think about it, id rather the pats go 16-0 during the regular season and lose in the playoffs, then to have them go 15-1 and win the super bowl. with that said, go steelers......

I just wish this game was being played at Hines Field. It would definitely give the Steelers some extra help.

I like this part: lol!

"Halfway across the Steelers locker room, defensive captain James Farrior practically let out a moan when he heard what Smith said."

I think the Steelers provide one of the biggest hurdles for the Pats this season.

The patriots, imo, dont have that hardnosed football feel to me anymore. They seem very finesse, on both sides of the ball.

The steelers are number 1 against the pass, and number 1 running the ball. Patriots are number 1 at throwing the ball, and have looked ot be susceptible to the run down the stretch, should make for a great matchup.

I want the patriots to lose, badly.

I agree with the both you. As if the Pats need any more motivation...

Lady, i'm with you on that. I'd rather them go undefeated during the regulars season only to lose in the playoffs. That would be too funny.

Me, too. I'd actually love to see them finish the year 16-1.

At this point, I'd love to see the Patriots run the table. But if history were to repeat itself, then the Steelers are going to win this game. #1 offense vs. #1 defense.

Uhm...Syracuse players talking about winners all their life? SYRACUSE!!!!!!!

I have seen Syracuse play these past 10 years, the only winner to come out of Syracuse was Marvin Harrison and Donovan McNabb.

Smith better learn how to run fast this weekend because I think Moss may score 4 tds on him alone.

It will be very interesting to see what Bellicheck does with the starters (esp. Brady) towards the end of the year especially in the meaningless NY Giants game. Shula was on MNF at Baltimore and was rooting for the Ravens. You think he's keeping up with the Pats this season?

I would love to see that too. I can hear the claims now at still being the best ever despite losing in the playoffs.

Don't forget Freeney...he turned out to be a pretty good player. ;)

And by the way, why is McNabb a "winner"? ;)

Patriots sound-off on the guarantee. Just scroll down to the right entry.

Tom Brady: "I don't think we've ever predicted winning. And we've won a lot of games." lol

I also think the Steelers have a good chance. I mean AJ Feeley lit up the Pats defence, so imagine what Roethlisberger can do.

But I'd prefer that the Pats go undefeated in the regular season and lose in the playoffs. Then they would be immortalized as the "perfect" team who couldn't even win a title. :D
