I just wanted to boast that my 10 year old daughter (Amber) placed first in her age group this morning in a 5K race with over 5000 participants. I'll post a link once the results go up on the net.
This was her 4th time running a 5K and previously she has placed 3rd twice, 2nd once and now 1st. Her times have improved every time.

22:10 but that may not be exact, as there was some kind of issue with the timing that they are correcting. That is why the results haven't been posted yet, while they get the times right.

That is a great time; averaging a tad over 7-minute miles over the course of three miles.
I've recently taken up jogging (ok, stop laughing) and I am only managing 9+ minute miles. I couldn't imagine cranking up the speed to a 7-minute mile over the course of 1.5 miles, let alone 3 miles...but then again, I'm a bit older than 10. lol

My brother once cheated at his year's cross-country at school. He hated running. The course was over three laps in woodland - him and his mate managed to hide for the first two laps, emerging on the last lap with a 500 yard lead and coasted home finishing 1st & 2nd...
The prize...? They got to run in the schools' area championship, run over twice the distance...

This is what my daughter Amber's Soccer team did over Memorial Weekend last week :
http://www.loudounyouthsports.com/website/article.asp?id=4229
Yesterday they played the 1st place team in their district, the same team they beat in overtime to win last week's tourney and this time we beat them soundly, 4-2. We were shorthanded at the tourney, only 2 subs but this weekend we are at full strength again.
Off to play a team from Culpeper tonight and McLean on Wednesday, then this season is over. Still a good chance to win the District. After two years, this will likely be the final games my daughter plays with this team, as she is likely to move up to one of the higher level select teams in the Fall.
