TSN: Bailey Is Skins' Champ

The Sporting News recently published its annual ranking of the NFL's top 100 players, with help from seven league personnel evaluators. Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre was named the top player. And four Redskins made the cut: cornerback Champ Bailey (No. 36), linebacker LaVar Arrington (75), receiver Laveranues Coles (77) and left tackle Chris Samuels (89).

The top five players are Favre, wideout Terrell Owens of the San Francisco 49ers, tailback Priest Holmes of the Kansas City Chiefs, linebacker Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens and defensive end Michael Strahan of the New York Giants.

Despite being the highest-rated Redskin, Bailey quibbled with being considered the second-best cornerback behind Oakland's Charles Woodson. "He's definitely deserves to be among the top guys," Bailey said. "Don't get me wrong, but I don't think he's better than me. I think I'm just more consistent."

*********

Lavar is WAY too low. I don't think the gap between him and bailey is that big... if there is a gap at all. Lavar might even be better. I was happy to see Coles on there.

I emailed the author of that article (Dam Pompei I think) to ask if he was on drugs to have Lavar that low. Haven't heard back from him yet.
