View Full Version : Anyone else think we beat Dallas even if they play everyone?

Cowboy fans I've talked to seem to think the only way we win this game is if they rest their starters. They have the mindset that we just don't have a chance unless they let us in the playoffs.

Where is this coming from? Didn't we almost beat them in Dallas earlier in the year when we weren't playing our best football?

So why can't we beat them at home, after we have won 3 in a row? Why do they have to let us in the playoffs? Why are we incapable of going out there and earning our spot?

I don't know, maybe it's just me but I think we can play with these guys!

Actually, we can beat them. Landry is playing deep on D and Dallas has not looked that good of late. We can take them with the starters. The only one we know won't play is TO, and without him they are in trouble.

I think so, hey we should have beaten them the first time...that's why I think they are gonna play a little harder than we expect...We should want it more than them as well....And it should be a great story for the league after we've gone through the loss of Sean. But make no mistake I wanted to beat them with TO so it'll be no excuses......

And if a Dallas fan says "well we were resting our players" You reply, "Big mistake cause I don't think anyone wants to see us in the playoffs"

Yeah I do too. It's crazy that in 2007 I'm actually confident in the Redskins...never thought Id say that. I think we can play with any team in the NFC with the way we are playing now. With that being said, Id still rather play the 2nd stringers lol.

lol, Very good point. I think the Skins have the momentum right now, and a huge incentive to play at their peak against the Cowboys. If the game is very physical in the first half, then I don't blame Wade for pulling some of his key people to keep them safe for the playoffs.

He's going the distance. He's going for speed. She's all alone, all alone in her time of need. Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course, ...

I can not get this song out of my head. I think the skins will go the distance.... The game is four days away i will not make it the adrenalin is pumping already i feel like it is gameday x 1000.

I know we could beat them with all their starters in. We almost pulled it out in Dallas when we were not playing our best ball. It will be nice WHEN we see them in the playoffs and beat them soundly.

yea but remember thier backups are somewhat better that many people's backups.....they stacked their team very well using the draft.

i think you can almost guarantee that the game will be physical. Pretty much all joe gibbs games are physical, and especially in December the game will be physical. Thats one thing you can always count on in a joe gibbs team, win or lose, they play physical

I know we can beat them with their full roster. Even with TO. We are playing alot better than we were earlier. We have been making a lot less mistakes too. We have turned the ball over less and doing better on Defense.

We can't sleep on them though. They will play us tuff. They always do. All the smack they talk will come back to bite them when we meet them again later in the playoffs. It's not something that is unbelievible. Even then TO may still be a little gimpy. I say we just light them up and let the fans say what they want. Their gonna wish they would have played some starters when the playoffs get to rollin and they see us next on the schedule...

This is so Cinderella.... We will be fine. I don't think anyone in our locker room is looking at this as a gimmie game that is going to be handed to us. Hey we have backups trying to play there butts off now. Even there backups are professionals just like ours. We can't overlook Glen either. He is a beast. Everyone one has something to prove. the only difference is,.... if they lose they have a week to rest and they are gonna play again, if we lose, we go home.

I don't want to go home!

I sure hope so. Since Todd has all 700 pages available to him, the offense presents an entirely new look. Much more dynamic, and not the same as the one Dallas saw earlier in the season. I wonder how they'll prep for our fellas...

When I first saw the schedule in the summer, I thought to myself that we lucked out getting Dallas at home in week 17. I figured we'd split with them and, no matter the consequences of the game, that we would win this one. Gibbs gets this team up for the Dallas games more than any other, and this is a team built for the stretch. Character guys with heart and toughness that absolutely hate the cowboys and thrive in foul weather conditions.

Now that it's all but certain they'll be resting the starters, and our playoff hopes hinge on the outcome of this game, I have no doubt we will win. This is going to be fun to watch.

Now what am I supposed to do with myself until the game? This is the longest week ever.

is it that collins has more plays available, or is it just that he is executing better because he knows where all the reads should be on any given play? nothing against campbell, but personally i think its execution...

RedBear, this statement is a knock on Campbell. With 7 yrs of experience in this system, I think it would be unfair to say that Campbell can't get it done and Collins can. With more time in, Campbell will be amazing in this system. And with so many years of experience and Al's trust, he probably is seeing more of the playbook.

I honestly believe Collins is starting with the team playing loose and hungry . I think if Campbell was in now we would be playing just as well or better. The rest of the team is executing and that's the difference. Just a matter of the right place at the right time, IMO.

Well we may find out if we beat Dallas this week and then Seattle in the playoffs.

I think Owens is the x factor because we dont have ST to match up on him and it showed during the last Cowboys game. Springs in man to man with Safety help is the only way we get cose to covering him. We also need to gamble and bring blitzes to give romo less time. We must make him find Hurd and Crayton, who will be open, so it is a gamble.

This is why I wish GB would have beaten Chicago. I wanted Dallas to have to lay for something. As it is now, the Dallas fans have a built-in excuse for this game, but I agree in that I think it doesn't matter who plays for Dallas we were going to win this game.

that's exactly what i was thinking.

and you're right, Sean Taylor was the perfect defense against TO. Landry and Doughty will just have to step up.

This is as good a thread as any to post this blog by Rich tandler (http://blog.redskinsgames.com/)

The subject of the week is who will play for the got-it-all-wrapped-up Cowboys this Sunday against the gotta-win Redskins. Wade Phillips has been asked, Joe Gibbs has been asked, the players on both teams have been asked. Various media members are asking each other.

However, that’s only part of the question involving the Cowboys’ approach to the game. The larger part of the question is this: What will the Cowboys, be they Tony Romo or backup fullback Oliver Hoyte, do when they are in the game? In other words, what kind of game plan will the Dallas coaches employ?

read it all it is pretty interesting choice for Dallas strategy wise.

its not a knock if you look at it logically. all those one-on-one deep balls campbell overthrew, collins is completing those and taking more chances. he's also completing those timing routes allowing receivers more opportunity to run after the catch. the ball is coming out much quicker than when campbell was in, and turnovers are down a lot. also, i basically accredited collins play to his experience. its not a knock to say someone has more experience than another, its fact. collins has translated that experience into execution. dont get me wrong, i like campbell and want him to develop into the QB of this franchise. but right now collins is executing very well(save for the windy conditions in NY where neither QB played well). perhaps the whole team is executing better, but it arguably could be because of collins play vs campbells play(not saying it is, just that its debatable). decision making is a big part of it as well. but i dont think you can say the offense/QB production has picked up due to the plays being called so much as i think its more to do with the plays being executed better.

Shure we can beat them any day of the week...........I know comming from me being a hommer and all it dosen't mean much but TD on NFL Total Access said pretty much the same thing today..............anyway the Cowboys comming into FedEx on Sunday is not going to go good for them no matter who they play

I definitely think we can beat them regardless of who they play. I think if we jump on them early while their starters are in that will make Phillips pull their starters even quicker. He doesn't want the last taste in their mouths to be our starters going up and down the field on their starters and stopping their O.

Matt, I think its fans being fans. They would never admit that we could beat them straight up. Which we could. If the Iggles could, we sure as heck can. But it's one of those arguments where neither side would give an inch.

I know we could beat them.

i definitely think we would beat them this time around. even if they were fighting for home field advantage and us a spot in the playoffs, we'd want it more than them. plus, this team is playing harder and more inspired this time around than it was back in november.

No game is meaningless, especially in this rivalry. If we win, particularly if we are ahead at half, we will have taken their best shot. No TO excuses - look at the 6 STARTERS we aren't able to play.

We are certainly capable of beating a full strength dallass team, but we could also lose to their backups. Now is not the time for over confidence.

SFT, Hr fan - there will never be a game between these two teams that doesn't matter, no matter the record of either team - if for no other reason we must hate (to lose to) each other because its tradition - there is not another team whose smack-talking fans can fire me up any quicker than those boy fans:sfight:

Glad this thread is here, because I was having the same thought this morning while listening to Doc on 980. He mentioned his opinion that if he were the Cowboys, he would try to "eliminate" us now rather than having to face us in Dallas during the playoffs. And I got to thinking "Am I the only one that doesnt find it a GIVEN that the Cowboys would beat us at full strength?"

Now, I see I am not the only one. :)

They can put whoever the he*ll they want on the field. We have beaten them twice in a row in OUR house, and the team (and fans, of course) will be ready.

just the thought they think they need to avoid the skins and get a built in excuse for doing so...makes me want them all the more..

and then a wildcard game win..will have the Cowboys right where Gibbs wants them..

The Skins have won every January game that means something against them...and blow them out doing so.. I would accept a Championship game loss..if it means taking out Dallas the week before and twice in 3 weeks
