Stephen Davis vs one of the best defenses ever- 9 carries, 68 yards.

You should not call the Buc's defense that. I would take the Panthers D over their's any day.

Nice game for Davis, though.

You would be one of the few on the face of the earth that would take the Panthers D over the Bucs.

I'm also one of the few who KNOWS that the lakers will fail to win an NBA title this year.

One has nothing to do with the other.

Wow, I'd definitely take the Bucs D. To each his own, but one has a shiny trophy and the other watched the playoffs last year.....

Exactly the reason for signing Davis. The Panthers had 4th quarter leads on the Yucs in both contests last year and could not sustain drives in the 4th quarters that would have ran out the clock. Yucs get ball back and win both games late. Ergo, Stephen Davis.

Davis is a terrific back and he had a great day against a defense that humiliated the Eagles less than a week before.

Davis has always had their number and maybe that's what we should do with Ladell "New Country" Betts against them.

BTW how cool is my new avatar? please don't hold back, I'm sure CarMike wouldn't mind the complements.

Very nice, especially since I'm an Iowa native.

And yeah, Davis had a good day yesterday, but the real story was the Panthers' special teams. Without them, the Bucs would have won by what qualifies as a pretty sizable margin in a game like that.

BC, you should know that I think the new avatar is great. Ladell carried the Hawkeyes while he was there. He was a shining star on some very bad Hawkeye team. They improved during his career and obviously reached the crescendo last year going to the Orange Bowl.

glad to see he is doing well. and both teams are better off. but, one of the weaknesses on that bucs D is the run defense. the rest of the panthers offense sucks though.

I would take the Panthers front 4 over the Bucs....

I'm glad you like the avatar BC...

I would too, Mike, but I think the defense as a whole still favors the Bucs.

I would take the Bucs corners over the Panthers'. Other than that, Carolina's D is better. I really like Carolina's safeties. Deon Grant is underratted. Mike Minter is just as good a hitter as John Lynch. Dan Morgan is developing into a fine middle linebacker. The Panthers D is younger, too.

Whoa, wait a minute. Derrick Brooks is the best linebacker in the NFC. Only Ray Lewis is better in the entire NFL. Brooks is a total beast. I think Dan Morgan is coming along, but Brooks on an average day is better than Dan Morgan will ever be.

I'll take Tampa's linebackers and defensive backs over Carolina's linebackers and defensive backs. Gimme that Panthers front four, though. Beasts, every single of of 'em.

Let's remember that Tampa is giving up 213 total yards per game so far this year. Carolina is actually near the bottom of the NFC, giving up 364 total yards per game this year. And if not for great special teams play by the Panthers, Tampa would have won that game.

I'm tired of all the 'ifs'

They lost. if there was a bad call that cost them the game, like the fumble in the AFC divisional playoff game two years ago, you could say 'if'.

Yeah, well if the bucs played better, they would have won. Give me a break.

If we had arolinas fornt 4 here I would take our defense over both of them... oh theres that "IF" word again

I would take Carolina's front four and, get this, their linebackers. Shelton Quarles and Dwayne Rudd are WAY overrated. I'd take the young, well, excluding Fields, group of Will Witherspoon, Dan Morgan, and Mark Fields. I like Carolina's safeties better than Tampa's as well. Dwight Smith is not starter material, although he is better than Jackson was. The Corners. No contest. The Bucs corners are among the best in the league. I'm tired of all of this talk of Anthony McFarland. He had only 20 tackles and 2 sacks last year.
