ok, so the main subject of the article is zorn hiring which has its own thread and is talked about plenty.

i thought there was some other info in the article. i believe it says zorn was told it would be fassel, gregg or spags. also has a springs quote, and also said meeks was seriously (is?) considered for head coach.

also says zorn main offensive style is west coast, and very passer friendly. lots of throws for JC i guess...

i don't know if this belongs in the zorn thread, cause there was other info in there i thought was important

So, Campbell will have to go through a system that will take three years to learn?

Sounds like it's Spags' job to lose frankly.

No, Jason will be fine, provided his star receiver RUNS THE PROPER (*cbs*) ROUTES AND DOESN'T QUIT THE PLAY!!! Zorn is just the guy to fine-tune Jason, where needed. He has the raw talent and the arm, which is something you can't teach. But I think the fans will be less forgiving of Jason this coming season, so he needs to step up.

I think most people say independent of who the individual quarterback is that the NFL west coast offense takes aprox. 3 years to truly master.

"I've always said it takes three years, but three to where they know where to go," Holmgren said. "Then, in years four and five, you polish your trade to really become good, not just to know what to do, but do it well. It takes until then so they know where to go, [and] to make the throw. It takes until then where you know you're getting this type of pressure here, so sidestep and make the throw. That's what you get the more you play the position."

Remember Hasselbeck got benched in his second season for Dilfer.

great. and we gave up an offense that was the same way in saunders that was going into year three. and alittle luck health wise could be a top ten offense. wonderful

"With the Redskins, Zorn, who was eager for the chance to direct his own offense, is expected to run an aggressive passer-friendly version of the West Coast offense, said a league executive familiar with Zorn's philosophy. Zorn developed a reputation as an outstanding teacher while working with Matt Hasselbeck and Seneca Wallace in Seattle, as well as with rookie Charlie Batch when Zorn was with Detroit. The development of young quarterback Jason Campbell is a top priority for the Redskins."

Do you guys think we have the receivers for that ??? Dont we need a big receiver ?

No, we don't. We will have to target a big WR or 2 in the off-season, preferably through the draft. All of the 49ers top wide receivers in the WCO were drafted by them (except Freddie Solomon) and developed in the WCO.

in this article from today it says different about what zorn was told

But Blache and Zorn also were among the coaches Meeks would have considered to be his top lieutenants, said sources familiar with the process, and their names were discussed when Meeks first interviewed for more than 10 hours with Snyder and Cerrato. In one of his interviews, Zorn was told that Williams, Fassel or Meeks would be Washington's next head coach, league sources said.

Agreed. Fortunately there's a gaggle of quality 6-2+ WRs in this draft.

So we're probably going to end up with fassel unless mooch really is a candidate. Although I think Meeks could probably do just as good a job as Fassel...

I like the updated sig, lol. This one is better than the first.

I've given up trying to figure any of this out, but I still maintain we aren't doomed.

Personally, i think Jason will catch on to this offense, and actually do a great job, considering that he was in the Wes Coast Offense his last year in college.

JC tends to throw the ball high (he is a big guy with a big arm), so that's another reason to target big WRs.

Now if only we had someone competent to pick one of them...

The way the NYG defense has led them to the SB, plus the wait until after the SB, means Spagnulo is a serious candidate without being interviewed (all other candidates can be hired now). However, we are missing the point. Snyder is involved in personnel, and now desires to be a HC. He is imitating George Halas (in a Jerry Jones manner). Jones at least played the game. A team is as good as it's leader (shudder).

That is the problem that underlies everything. I am not one of those fans who insists that as an outsider I know more than the FO, but some of the mistakes have been so obvious that I think, "If I know sitting here on my couch eating potato chips that this move is not going to work out, why don't they? They do this for a living!" Examples of this are Brandon Lloyd (everybody in the league or who even reads PFW know that this guy was a turd just out for a payday) and the drafting of Jordan Palmer (no scouting service thought that this kid had what it takes to be an NFL QB, but some said that there will be one sucker that will draft him just because of his brother. Bingo!
Agreed. Fortunately there's a gaggle of quality 6-2+ WRs in this draft.
Which is why we will probably pick all LBs and DBs. GW's revenge.

Is it possible that Dan Snyder tore up a 150-pound league one summer? Maybe he has hidden talents.

All kidding aside, at this point I'd take the ghost of Amos Alonzo Stagg as HC. Just make the hire, already!

Oh, sorry. This just in. Satan will not let AAS out of Hell to coach the Redskins; said it would be considered a lateral move.

LOL! I will resist the tempatation to say that our HC search has been stagg-nant.
