interesting read.
here's a snippet:
"When USC coach Pete Carroll spoke with the Atlanta Falcons about their head coaching vacancy, mass speculation ensued.
When Carroll then met with the Redskins about their head coaching vacancy, no one noticed."

For good reason. Pete has a dream job with supportive management. Why leave for a position that carries the seeds (Danny and Vinnie) of failure? No one would believe it. When creating news the reporter has to take care to at least be plausable.

Carroll has a great deal at the college level. He did not do well as an NFL coach.
He has turned down several other teams in previous seasons and the Falcons this off-season. He's waiting for the perfect situation to return to the NFL, but I suspect he'll not leave his present situation.

maybe no one noticed because he was the secret mystery candidate.

I thought Fassel turned out to be the mystery candidate. The original one anyway.

I suspect that there are a handful of mystery candidates that we will never know about.

Give it a couple years and they will surface on the next coaching search we have.

I'm not as pessimistic as some, as I do believe in dumb luck (and lord knows, we are overdue for some) but I can't honestly see either Mooch or Fassel here longer than 3 years.

That's where I am too.
I also would have liked to see the team have the same OC for more than a cup of coffie.

That may be the case with every coach Snyder hires, and these coaches will not be leaving because they just won 3 straight SB's and have nothing left to prove.:)
