He looks so young. Just an observation.
Madden was 32 when he took over the Raiders.

he can interview, but he aint going nowhere. to good a situation he is in, and too good a teacher to learn from. Too much money for the future will be given to him if he stays a year or two more, no way he leaves.

Madden was 32 when he took over the Raiders.
But Madden was already with the Raiders for a few years before being promoted. The players already knew him and respected him.
Having a 32 year old come over from the Pats (no less) may be a tad different.

I've already gotten 3 calls from there myself....
...unfortunately it was always Vinny Cerrato with his stupid prank calls.

Why, you interested in working for the Caps or Wizards? A call from the Skins would be 703 or from Snyder's house would be 301. ;)
Can this young man bring Brady, Moss, Welker and Stallworth with him? If not, I don't want him.

My two concerns with this guy are his age and basically every starter on NE's offense including oline is or worth of all-pro.

if only we resigned Todd Collins, we would not need tom brady..........

Let me continue taking out of my chest my displeasure over Mariucci...
I'll take him over Mooch just because of I don't know what he could be capable of as a HC.

I watch alot of nfl besides every Skins game including numerous Pats games. Even though I don't like them they are fun to watch and all their games were essentially nationally televised. McDaniels is the best playcaller in the nfl and has already established multiple sets with NE besides just the shotgun. I have little doubt about his success offensively just a raw product as head coach.

Read about it (http://www.hailredskins.com/?p=403).
even if he is unsure, he should interview. there is a skill set that is necessary to successfully prepare for this type of interview. some guys "get it" faster than others (tomlin, for example).. some guys dont do it particularly well (marv lewis, for example).. but no matter what, the more you do it the better you get at it..
besides, i personally feel that the skins situation might be ideal for someone like mcdaniel.. he could rely on some very experienced people under him and focus on the big picture of offensive philosophy. the worst thing for him would be to have to put together an entire staff. mistakes there would cripple him from the start. with the skins, he could gradually assert himself over the staff and replace guys over the next couple of years. he should give some carefull thought to that.
the big negative with the skins is the comparison of our front office to the pats. on the other hand, how many other front offices measure up to the pats anyway ???

Will he be stopping by the DMV to pick up his learners' permit afterwards?

I just think Snyder would really run over this kid with a tank considering his age and complete lack of coaching experience. I'm sorry but I think McDaniels and Snyder would be a match made in hell. Not saying Dan would really get along with anyone coaching not named Gibbs but he would show an exceptionally scant amount of patience with this guy.

McDaniels is doing this for the interview practice.
He's got the best QB possibly of all time playing now - so he looks like a genius every game. He could stay another season or three and get another ring or two. When the Pats start to move south then he can become a HC for big money.

I can't see this guy coming into the Skins situation. One questionable call and it's the beginning of the end. He looks great in NE for obvious reasons, won't happen with the Skins. I love his play calling, but with that offense, there are almost no bad calls. I think Mooch or Fassel, maybe Spagnuolo are all better choices for the Skins right now.

Yes I did. Sounds like they gave it away early then tried to backpeddle. Mariucchi it is, I think. We could do worse.

Ah, but with Vinny's shrewd negotiational skills, he will no doubt be able to work out a Brady for Collins and a Llyod for Moss trade.

I'd prefer to have a more experienced offensive minded coach considering we have a first year offensive coordinator. It's bad enough we already have our coaching staff in line only to have him short handed a bit by not surrounding him with an experienced staff. I'd prefer to have an experienced staff help him along the way. That's why I'm on the Mooch bandwagon.

Yea we would end up with Greg Brady and Kate Moss..... Come to think of it that could be an improvement.

Talent can make an average Joe look terrific, look at Jimmy Johnson for instance. JJ was terrific at Dallas w/5-6 all pros on offense each year, then he moves to Miami where all he had was one all pro, Dan Marino, and he didn't far so well.

I agree completely. If any of the other candidates were even remotely exciting I'd say he's too young. But you know what? Fassel? Mooch?
Bring on the kid and let's see if we can find ourselves a prodigy. Age is just a number and if the kid can coach and has some good ideas I'm all for it.
He's got a ton of rings already as an assistant, the next step is to win one as a HC.

he'll have his third in less than a week. He'll hang around for another one before he casts himself into the unclean ocean of the crap teams needing a new HC.

He's been there since 2000. He's got every ring the Patriots franchise has ever won.
And I might be biased, living in Ohio, but his father is one of the best high school coaches in the country. That matters.
When you grow up with a Hall of Fame-caliber coach as your father you've a lot older in "coaching years."
McDaniels has been on practice fields and in coaches meetings since he was 5 years old.
Hes 31 going on 51.

If he interviews along with Spags ...we'll be trying to get coaches from the combine.....geez make up your mind already.....
I know one thing if they choose fassel Imma be pissed..not because of who it was but because of why it took so long...and if he was thier guy all along, then why would they wait so long.

i am all for this hire myself, prefer someone who can get out there and run around with the players, rather than an old fart that needs a knee replacement
think respect is earned not by age but ones knowledge of the game, think he could do as well if not better than gibbs did last year, think during the game he was responsible for calling timeouts, field goal attempts, and
clock management,

Madden was 32 when he took over the Raiders.
John Madden also wasn't getting a lot of credit from coaching for the greatest head coach of his era.

Just read what the Pats players have to say about McDAniels. The more I read about the guy the more I think he might the next great NFL HC, some kind of freakish wunderkind.
But, knowing the Redskins luck, we'll hire Mooch, get 25 wins in three years while McDaniels will win seven Super Bowls over the next 15 years with Philadelphia or somebody.

i believe that bellichick had the same kind of background but it still took him until his gig with the patriots to get it right. if mcdaniel flops the first time around as BB did, it will do his first team little good
there is still going to be a learning curve. not every young coach is as effective as gruden was right out of the box

A good point. But I don't think any coach has had the start to his bio like McDaniels.
All those rings? Tom Brady's QB coach at 28? The primary play-caller for the best franchise in the NFL at 29? That's just sick. Guys with this kind of up-side don't come around very often, if ever.
