He was on talking about his status and what was promised him when he came to us. He said skins primised him they were going to throw the ball all over the field and score lots of TDs. He said he doesnt know why he didnt play more, but he felt the coaches looked at his drops and held it against him.(or something like that) He also kindof complained about COoley getting a lot of catches and how the passing O surrounded Cooley and Moss.
He did add he plans to be here next year and blah, blah, blah.
Wasted talent and cash.

I married a girl who said she would look 24 forever. I stopped trying in my marriage after her first wrinkle. Then I faked an injury to get out of our relationship.:)

The new coach thinks he can get something out of Lloyd. Thankfully I don't think Mooch was there when the Niners drafted him.

Yep, he was drafted in '03 and Mooch was gone after the '02 season.

Another scary thought .............. maybe they might. Randy Moss is a great example. I just don't want the new coaching staff to be confused with his potential (or lack of) and possible affecting any draft considerations......... even UDFA.

my thoughts exactly
he definately can play. and whether he has a good attitude or not, i still dont think him, or any of our receivers, were used correctly while Campbell was at the helm this year.

you must be forgetting that we dont have to wait for june 1st to designate it a june 1st cut, we just have to wait for june 1st for the cap side of it to take effect. the new rule put in place a year or two ago allows us to designate two june 1st cuts before june 1st...

I have a question about the cutting Lloyd.
As things stand, Lloyd is going to count $4.25 mil against the cap this year if he stays past June 1st, in large part due to a roster bonus of $1.8 mil that is owed to him on June 1st. If the Redskins cut him prior to June 1st, he will count $7.15(ish) mil against the 2008 cap.
Can the Redskins designate Lloyd as a June 1st cut prior to June 1, and still avoid paying him the roster bonus, or is there a clause in the CBA that would force the Redskins to pay him the roster bonus if he is designated as a June 1st cut?

I am actually leaning towards this as well. I want to give Lloyd another chance. So i am hoping he stays with us 1 more year. And if the new coaching staff cant do anything with him then its time to go separate ways.

Only way he can stay IMO is if he gives up the roster bonus and gives back some of his salary... I don't want pay him alot for nothing.

Brunell didn't play well in '04 and faded in '05. I can live with a player giving his all and failing. Where I get angry is when a player robs money from the Skins by not giving any effort.

Yeah I think it is time to let Lloyd go on his way regardless. I just think he has burned to many bridges to stay. It was a bad idea to bring him here no need in making it worse by keeping him any longer than we have too. Bank of America proved throwing more good money at a bad money situation doesn't really help.

01-30-2008, 12:57 PM
I heard him on 980 this morning and I wanted to call in or text them or something because Lloyd sounded crazy on some of his terms.
We are getting back most of the coaching staff. They don't have much good to say about Lloyd. He flat out "LOST" his position if you ask me. His statements about Colley and Moss were somewhat skewed. He appeared arrogant when asked would he talk to the new coaching staff and let them know that he is ready and willing to play and this is a new OC and he wants to start "a new". This fool says nah I'll let my play stand for itself.... I don't want to beg for a position, I know what I can do.
I would love for him to be the comback player of the year. He kills us with the cap if we cut him, but I would love for us to see some different things that can get him open. I mean,.... we do have some weapons. If we can get on the same page out the door, we can be a decent team, even with the changes are being made.
I don't think he is going to do much with the rap thing.... True Hip Hop heads would not give him a chance. He would do better busting his butt and gettin' his football on and sellin' them CD's at the RedSkin Store or something. The hip hop community won't have him.

Didn't he come in as a Restricted Free Agent? If so, he had at least one year left on his remaining contract that first year here. Why, oh why, did we not wait to offer him his massive contract until the end of that season? Even if he had a stellar year, he wouldn't have cost us much more than he is now. Poor planning on Cerrato's part.

Unfortunately it might not be as simple as cutting him. Everything is about money and we are going to take quite a hit by just cutting him. If it was just him i would say fine but there are quite a few players we are considering cutting although lloyd is at the top of the list for jackass points.
I would assume if mooch is HC lloyd will definitely be cut because i am sure his old san fran connections have given him the full negative scoop on lloyd.

Taking on a dead cap hit has never, I repeat, never stopped Danny from cutting someone. Lloyd is the biggest mistake the Redskins have made since Danny took over the team. No matter the penalty, he is history.

Randy Moss sucked in Oakland, but he still put up 1500+ yards and 11 TDs in 2 years. That's light years more than what Lloyd has ever done in his life.
Actually (and this is what should really worry us), those are almost exactly the numbers that Santana Moss put up in these last two seasons, and are much better than what Randle El has done so far with us.

Uhhh... Ronald Curry was a QB from UNC converted to WR in the NFL so he has actually done well for himself (don't remember when he was drafted).
But I get your point and I'm with you. The difference between BL and RM is that if RM half asses it he still has enough talent to be "good". Lloyd's attitude is terrible and he'll never be a starting WR in the NFL again. EVER.
