My parents live on the Chesapeake Bay. Water front, outside of Chesapeake Beach, MD. Father is a charter boat captain. Him and I are going to get his boat ready for Isabel tomorrow (9/16).
Then, on Wednesday, we are going to board up the windows of the house, and then they (and the cat) are coming up to my house to ride the storm out. Of course, this all hinges on Isabel still hitting the Mid-Atlanic. I just hope it turns out to sea.
I guess if she hits us, I am going to have me a Hurricane party. :stout: :Partyon:  :drunker:
This is going to be something. Four adults and five cats in one house.:lol1:
Thank God, I have a big house.

PLEASE, if you are threatened by this storm, move inland. Your house and belongings can be replaced, you can't. Good luck whichever way you choose.

Roberro, I thank you for your concern, but I do live inland, that is why my folks are coming here. I live on the edge of the mountains, in the western part of Maryland. I was trying to be funny saying I am having a hurricane party with everyone together.
As big as Isabel is, we will feel her this far inland, but no where close to what my folks would be getting at their house on the water.
So, we ride the storm out here.
I am leaving soon to go down to the Bay to help my dad get the boat and the house ready.
Wish me luck.

Yep, I live 15 minutes from skinsfan44, we'll be fine out here in the hills. Your parents are smart for coming up off the beach. Hope no ones allergic to those cats. http://burns.thefinaldimension.org/contrib/fk/wolfgang.gif http://burns.thefinaldimension.org/contrib/fk/wolfgang.gif

You see, you have a trade off with Hurricanes and living in the coastal states.....advance warning.......Here in the heartland, our nemesis.....Tornados.....strike without warning.....try game planning around that!

I already have 4 cats(well, the wife has 4 cats), so adding my folks cat makes 5.
Now, my sister lives in North Beach, and her and her boyfriend (along with her 2 cats) were going to his folks home in Manassas, VA, but his mom is allergic, so they are coming here instead.
So, now their will be 6 adults, and 7 cats in my house.
Of course, we have till Thursday to see what happens.

I live in Tarboro NC about an hour and a half east of Raleigh,NC.When Floyd came ,this area had the worst flood in 100 years. It was bad enough Clinton came downtown and gave a speech and FEMA sat up shop in town for quite some time.I hope its not that bad this time. Also when Floyd came we had just had a tropical depression pass through. It dropped tons of rain the week before saturating the ground and filling up the creeks. We havent had as much rain this go round prior to the storm approaching.

Well, we got the boat taken care of, and my folks house has been boarded up. After all that, my father is thinking of staying to ride it out, but my mom is coming up with the cat. I am trying to talk him into not staying. At 69 years old, he thinks if he is not there, that he will lose his boat and he said that he is to old to start over. I told him "to hell with the boat, come on up". My mom said that "he is stubburn as a mule".
Now, it is my turn to take care of my house. They are calling for 10"+ of rain for my area, so I am now looking for some sand bags to put in front of my doors and the 2 garage doors. Man, I got alot of work ahead of me.
Well, I will be signing off, so everyone take care and I hope everyone makes to through the hurricane.

Its Thursday 9-18 at about 12:15 pm here at the Jersey Shore... The wind has been blowing since very early this morning. The sky is a mottled gray and white with some streaks of dark blue overcast. The waves are begining to roll onto the shoreline......The breakers are churning up foam and sea weed as they crash onto the shoreline. We have been under a flood warning since last night - we will see the rains probably within the net 12 hrs.A typical Jersey Shore hurricane scenario.
So........... I look forward to leaving here on Saturday to head for the TailGate Party where I'm hoping beautiful weather will abound.
To all of you in harms way I wish you well, be safe and take care of yourselves.

A reply to no-one in particular: if you were in the path of this potentially lethal storm and evacuated, congratulations! If you stayed, I hope you wrote your name on your forearm and notified the emergency management folks of your nex of kin. I watched in horror as rescue personnel responded to a report of two people stranded. The reporter asked of of the responders," is there a time when it becomes to dangerous to come out here? His response was, "now". It turns out no-one was in the house. I come from a long line of volunteer firefighters, from my grandfather and reaching beyond me to my own daughter. I frevently hope that one of my four grandchildren will continue the legacy. That said, I think that ANYONE who ignores a mandatory evacuation notice, does not deserve to expect other people to risk thier lives to save thier butts when conditions prove that they have let thier alligator mouths overload thier hummingbird asses. I trully hope that this does not reflect on Skinsfan44's father. Further, I think that any TV reporter who stands out on a beach during a hurricane, is encouraging other morons to do the same, and should be arrested on the spot. That's my oppinion. Let's hear it!

I just re-read the above message and can only hope to learn how to use spell-check. But, you get the idea, right?
