"We're all coming in together," said Kelly during one of three news conferences. "We were all kind of the guy at our universities, now we're all kind of pups again, and we know where we stand. We know we have to come in here and compete and push each other. We're going to push each other to get better. Definitely."
"It gives us a tremendous amount of flexibility," Zorn said of the Redskins' move to bolster the receiving corps through the draft. "It gives us depth, and if we do have somebody that gets nicked up, we won't lose anything with the firepower that we can put on the field.
"I'm excited about the ability to change personnel groups, that's what I think I'm most excited about, because that's what aids this particular style of offense -- personnel groups and changing them. We'll be able to utilize certain guys for certain situations. And then the height that these two receivers have, to get them down in the red zone and to have them go up for the ball and compete against a shorter corner will be a real advantage."
Good article . . . gets me a little excited about the possibilites of the offense once the new players learn to play in the nfl and the team learns the Zorn WCO!! Hopefully they will be as good as i think they can . . . and NOT tooooo far in the future.

Honestly, I think we should keep them on somewhat of a rotation. If we have fresh legs in the second half, we're going to be able to burn the crap out of some of the defenses we face.

Feel good story. Interesting about the two WR knowing each other before the draft as they worked the combine and team workouts.
I'll be interested to see how these guys do in the TC and pre-season. We need at least for on of these guys to step up into the Z slot in the WCO. Jason needed a big guy and now he's got a couple.
Moss and ARE are looking in their rear view mirrors.

I like the fact that Kelly stated that the young players know there place and will be pushing each other to get better!!! Don't sound like a headcase to me!!

For some reason I think Kelly may end up playing well right off the bat he's been much more productive and he seems to have an edge to him. Thomas I think could take a minute to make the adjustments to NFL level ball.

These two rookies are going to push each other. Frankly, the competition will be fierce because there are more WR than positions. Rookies vs. Mix vs Moss/ARe vs Thrash. It's going to be a great battle.

Yup, I think Moss and El are going to push themselves harder to perform too...

I'd bet that Kelly will be used in a bunch of red zone packages from the get-go, but Thomas will have more yards for the year.

WUSA-TV has interviews with each of the receivers. Click here and scroll down a little. They're on the right.

Edit: Thanks for the article. I get excited for these fellas when they get drafted to our team. They're on a huge stage now. The video interviews that I linked to above show them as fine young men. Good guys.

i am actually looking forward to our red zone offense. I think it will be a beast.
As to the rest of the field, it will take time to change to the complicated system, the speed of the NFL, etc.
I also am confident that if/when moss gets hurt for a few games, while it will certainly hurt us, it won't be as devastating as it has been in the past. I think we can all agree that he will probably miss atleast 2 games every year.

I think Moss would work better in the slot than both of those slow-moes

I would have to say that the offense is shaping up nicely. Moss will more than likely keep his playing time but ARE will probably be replaced by mid season. At least i hope so. I will be happy as long as the offense produces and scores points. I think the defense will be the same as last year. Not sold on Blache, but it could turn out well. At least these rookies are not handed a 700 page playbook. They would never see the field.

I say allow Moss and El to run the "Wes Welker" type routes and allow everyone else to handle thier business.
If we can rotate everyone in the game, we're gonna see get alot of mismatches.....
Can you imagine Thomas,Mix and Kelly on one package....Cooley, Kelly and Davis in another....or Moss Kelly El and Thomas.....That'll be pretty special.
I do know this as well....the first among moss and el to get hurt, might not see the field for a long time....and not due to injury

Hard for me to get excited over that article. How often does a rookie WR come in and light it up? You have your exceptions of course. But...
Tired of feel good articles. Time to see it on the field.
Yes, I'm still bitter with this team.

i think Thrash is gone. he had 9 catches last year, 12 the year before that. that should not be enough to earn a roster spot.

I don't think anyone's expecting a Pro Bowl season out of either of the new guys, but rookie receivers often contribute between 500-800 yards, which would be a lot more than we've gotten out of a #2 WR the past few years.

Awww, Mike! Look on the bright side. Out of three rookie receivers, there just has to be a future Hall of Famer in there somewhere! ;)
