Zorn preps for first Redskins practice
May 1, 2008

Associated Press

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- Jim Zorn has the entire day mapped out, from the special teams meetings first thing in the morning to the evaluation sessions with his assistants after the second practice is over.

Somewhere in between, he'll say hello.

The first-time head coach will run his first practices Friday as the Washington Redskins open a three-day minicamp. Although Zorn has met nearly all of the players over the last few weeks, he will have the entire roster assembled before him for the first time since he was hired to replace Joe Gibbs in February.

What will he say? Don't expect a speech for the ages.

That's a great article. I like (receiver coach) Hixon's comments on the playbook being "not big like before..." lol

hopefully this is his first of many to come. Hopefully he is our guy for the long run.

I am with Zorn in thinking he is fortunate he hasn't had to hire his own coach's, except for ones that he really wanted. Lets him go through the entire trail once before having to make decisions. Its important so he knows what he wants and stuff from a head coaching position.

His honesty is refreshing, but i hope he is as good a motivator as Joe Gibbs was. Because there was one thing you couldn't fault our players on and that was effort, even if we got blown out. They would run through a brick wall for that man.

Consider me a believer in Zorn. I like everything about this guy so far, he just seems so genuine and ready to get to work. Its refreshing to hear a coach actually reveal what he's thinking from time to time without having to sift through a river of bullcrap to get to it...Gibbs was the master of speaking for half and hour and not saying anything.

This is a good and kind of refreshing article. I just want the season to start now. the next 3 months seem to drag in between the draft and training camp.

i absolutely agree with you. But i also don't feel as bad as some on this board about gibbs practically saying the same thing over and over, and using the same phrases and so on to the media. He was just being overly cautious, which is just Gibbs nature.

So while i agree it is nice to here honest answers from a head coach now, i also have no problem with the head coach feeding me the fan, and the media bullcrap because the other teams hear that stuff too.

I feel this way is different, not better, not worse just different. but thats my opinion, and i know it is not that popular among alot of people on this board.

"it's all of us together.....it starts with me...what could have I done..."

if I hear that one more time in a press conference from someone with a redskins shirt on, I'll screaaam!!!!

Very good article, I also like the fact that Zorn does speak to the press in a genuine way....doesn't seem like he's hiding anything...

I like the way Zorn handles himself in the media and am big time excited about this new start in Redskins land.

Hopefully he can get JC and his receiver workin well together especially now that JC has a lot more choice of targets.
