The guy is doing his Job! He fires up the defense. I'd rather him play like he does at 100% all the time then step on the field and be hesitant. This is the same problem we had with Lavar a few years back when he was repeatidly picking up personal fouls and dumb penalties for being too intense. You can't expect the guy to tone it down and not lose something when he steps on the field.

I used to agree that his fire in practice was awesome and it still is but man he has to quit knockin our guys out. His name has been mentioned with way too many big hits on our own guys. I love his hitting but wait to give it to Shockey on Sunday

You can't tell a player like Bowen to turn it down in practice and not expect it to hurt his game. Thats just the way it is. I have no problem with hearing he laid someone out in practice because I'm sure the Giants are hearing it too and they now are going to be more hesitant to come over the middle.

i think that it was that he and smoot collided, so it isnt like bowen did it intentionally.

Hard to comment. Could have been just a freak, weird angled collision without any 'over' agressiveness. Bauman will have to play big. I think we'll be alright.

I agree....it wasn't like Bowen was trying to tackle Smoot like a WR. They both went for the ball. THat happens....

Odd things happen all the time-even in Practice-........Lets not go blaming Bowen for something that may not entirely be his fault............

I don't blame Bowen. He wasn't even hitting Smoot. These things happen.

DBs have collisions all the time. Sh#t happens!
I would just like to see him (Bowen) start hitting some people like that on Sundays. Regardless, we'll be alright. I like Smoot but it's not like he's the All-Pro back there - Freddie at times has more than his share of coverage problems and poor decision making.

i think it's only an accident, head-to-head collision and as Bowen is more solid...

I haven't seen Bowen hit anyone like that in a real game yet. I agree that it probably wasn't intentional... and who knows... maybe it will toughen skinny Smoot up a bit... but you need to use your head as well. That separates the pros from the amateurs.

Sh$t happens. It was a collision that resulted from both of them going for the ball. If you want to accuse someone make it Rob Johnson because Spurrier he said he should have thrown it elsewhere.

I also heard players on the radio say that Bowen was actually letting up when the collision occured. He shouldn't be blamed for this at all IMO.

He nearly decapitated Curtis Martin in the first game, saved a touchdown in that game, and had a nice interception against Atlanta. The hit on Smoot I'm sure was purely accidental, ( I haven't heard any complaints from Smoot who refers to Bowen as " XXX "....." because it's always exciting when he's out there ")
Matt Bowen is a throwback, and I'm glad we have him.
