The Washington Redskins have asked Carlos Rogers to be patient in his return from a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee. That, however, has not been easy for the injured cornerback, who stalked the sidelines in frustration yesterday because he couldn't participate in walkthroughs during organized team activities.
"It's hard because you know you can do things. You see how your leg's coming," said Rogers, who the medical staff says won't be ready for the start of the regular season. "I'm breaking and cutting in individual drills, so what's wrong with doing a walkthrough? I guess my knee's about 80 percent. I don't feel it cutting and breaking, doing all the [defensive back] drills ...
"They tell y'all that I won't be back until after the season starts, but the way my knee feels, I'm not going to miss no half a season. I'm on track to be out there for training camp. I know I'll be there first game. I'm not going to miss that."
He sounds determined to be ready. I do not think he will be there for the first couple of games, and if he is i hope he is 100%. We have enough CBs to be paitent with Rogers.

I agree.... and while I appreciate Rogers enthusiasm and motivation I want to insure our Beloved Team has the BEST players, mentally and physically out on the field for the opening game!

I'm glad he's chomping at the bit to prove himself because he needs to. He's not a bust yet, but he hasn't proven he's a #1CB either.
I'm also glad the medical staff and the coaches are holding him back until he's fully cleared to play. It's more important, IMO, that he be ready to step up for the second half of the season. I'm a bit skeptical that we'll have Smoot and Springs healthy and ready to go for a full season.

What Rogers should do while he is waiting to participate fully with the team, is stand in front of the ball launcher and catch passes all day. If he could catch, he would have made the pro bowl already.

hope he can make it back for opening day but only if heis completely healed and cleared. we can afford to have him miss more time if it means he gets completely healed

whats the success rate of guys coming back at previous levels athletically after that sorta injury.
He has bad ball instincts. He needs to get in that film room and start recognizing when the ball is coming andhow he should react to it. I'm sick of seeing the ball wizz right by his head.

While i love rogers fight and heart, not to mention confidence in his knee, i am all for the trainning staff. ACL and MCL injuries take a 1.5 years to be fully back, and at least 9 months to be on the field.
Rogers may feel ready, but he wont be ready. Its like a hamstring injury for anyone who has played sports before. You think your ready to go and you go and play and test it out and after a few days it is hurt again because it wasn't really fully healed.
He may feel ready, but i would still put him on the PUP list no matter how much he talks about. I also wouldn't have him participate in many drills, and from the article i don't like the idea he is cutting and stuff. Personally i would have him do the bare minimum and let it heal. We may not be set at corner and we do need some quality depth, Rogers health is also important to this season in the long run and for the franchise near future. Him being a solid number 2 corner for the next 6-7 years is big for the franchise instead of lookin for a number 1, and 2.
thats just my 2-cents. Im hope the trainning staff takes a real patient time with him, and don't let his talk affect how they handle it.

Lol. Great idea-he could even pair up with Jerry Rice and practice catching bricks. Lol.
I'm glad he is anxious to get back out there, but with the injury history our coaches and medical staff has had with Arrington and more recently, Portis....the worse thing he can do is come back too early. Better safe than sorry.

I really hope Carlos makes a full recovery, because we're not exactly flush with great corners. Like you guys said, though, better later than too soon and reinjury.

I just hope he's spending his freetime studying film, and getting tips from some stop cb's. If he turns his head around sooner, and focuses on the ball, he might actually have a few picks this season.

He needs to be fully healed or we'll lose him to a re-injury. i like his attitude but he dropped a lot of catchable balls when he's been in. A couple of them would have been returned for TDs.
He's been a disappointment for his draft pick number. i think the jury is still out as to whether he is a bust or not. I'll just be happy for him to play a good level in the regular season.
