Great news. Now just get sleepyhead awake to sign his and we'll be set. If Davis cares at all about what his teammates, fans, and coaches think of him he would exhaust all efforts to get his done by Sunday.

Sweet! I agree about Davis too. If he holds out for any extended period of time it really won't be a good first impression. If you can even call it a first impression after his previous little mishap.

Good to see Thomas in. Double agree about Davis - he needs to repair a somewhat damaged reputation by getting into camp on time and work hard when he's there.

According to JLC Thomas will earn a max of $4.8 million in his deal, with $2.75 million as his signing bonus, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
JLC also says that Davis has been practicing at Redskins Park all week and is anxious to get his deal done.

It's like pennies on the dollar compared to signing a 1st especially a high one. Good news about Davis also. That 2 tight end set with him and Cooley should be nasty.

great idea having those second rounders. not only do you get fine value, but it is usually a lot easier to get them signed.

FB Pete Schmitt was the one they let go to make room for Thomas. I guess that ends all the speculation about Schmitt making the roster or about Sellers being let go.

How nice is it to be heading into TC with just about all of our draft picks signed? Davis indeed needs to get a deal ASAP.

I am very happy with getting both Malcom Kelly, and Devin Thomas in camp on time. That was the most important thing as far as I was concerned. Fred Davis... Well, it sure would be nice if he doesnt' hold out at all, but the fact is... We are not hurting at TE. If the is there, great. If not, well, then I am not losing sleep just yet.

Good news. I know we all have been waiting for this. I'm not gonna worry about Davis. He knows he has to be in camp on time so it will get done before Sunday. I would hope that it gets done today some time or tomorrow morning. I remain optomistic.

I defended Davis when he missed his wake up call. If he misses THIS wake up call, I'll actually begin to have second thoughts about the pick.
Um, hello?

I'm glad we have the two receivers in. I know it is unusually for a rooke WR to have a big first year, but I'm hoping at least one can break the trend.

i just thought about something with Davis. Is it possible if his contract isnt done by the time the league office closes today that he could have to miss a day or two of training camp?

I think he could show up if he(and the skins) have both signed it.
Get your ***CENSORED BY SPENCE*** together Fred.

I am pretty sure that all they have to do is fax and confirm the fax made it to the league office. Every year a bunch of rook deals get done in the 11th hour and the signee is on the field the next day......

but u usually get 4 year deals instead of 5. So if they are any good the get a new deal year 3 versus year 4. So all 3 are good value but all get new big 2nd deals alot sooner too.

Good point bro...I'm just still shocked we went WR-TE-WR with our 2nd round picks...I understand the "value" aspect of Davis and Kelly, just hope it works out because we had other pressing needs before those two positions (especially after we stole Devin Thomas in the 2nd round instead of at #21 overall).

That's not so much of a bad problem to have.

I have a question. Are the majority of these rookies who hold out at camp due to their agents, or is it due to the rookies themselves? I really think these rookies might just do what their agent tells them to do cause they are so young and malleable. Thoughts?

Great news. Can't remember such a competent off-season for years.
What I want to know is who's kidnapped our front office...

I was excited when I read that Devin signed his contract. I'm not too worried about Davis getting signed. The contract is probably ready and he just needs a little time to sleep on it.:goofy:

****BREAKING NEWS ******BREAKING NEWS ****BREAKING NEWS
The Redskins' 2nd round draft pick TE Fred Davis was seen at Redskins Park in a conscious state. The Redskins attribute his consciousness to the NoDoz that are now supplied by the medical staff. Bubba Tyer said "we expect no problems with Davis and his sleeping habits during training camp. We will be monitoring him closely to see if he shows signs of being soporific."

Not really, but for WR, the first year is a wash, not really a major inpact, so then year 2 and 3 and then 3 players going into their contract year all together, i think there is only 1 Franchise tag available, so if both are doing well, big time money tied up to the WR position at the same time.
It could have been nicer if Devin was given a 5 year if possible.

If our only worry is about Davis oversleeping, we will be in pretty good shape. We still have an issue or 2/3 but overall I have been please with the offseason. GO SKINS !!!!!!

I just watched Devin's press conference and my only question is why did they let Drew speak. They asked about Sean and he provided a lil bit but then it became a sell Devin for the future show. I cracked up.

I cant wait to see Devin Thomas play for us this season in the Burgundy and Gold. Im so pumped for this season. I loved Devin Thomas coming into the draft and when we traded down and still got him at 34 I was jumping up and down. Its no where near the level of Randy Moss falling in the 1998 Draft but it was a great moment for all Redskin fans. All we need now is Fred Davis to wake up :sun: sleepy head and were set lol. HTTR!!!

I would have taken DE Calais Campbell, and am still suprised we didn't. That said, I understand the logic behind taking Davis-the TE position is critical to the success of the WCO (Holmgren has been looking for a star TE for his system ever since he arrived in Seattle, and just spent a 2nd-rounder on one this year as well) and if anything were to happen to Cooley it could cripple the offense. They had no real depth at Cooley's position, and stud TEs are hard to find. We'll see if Davis turns into one. I am certainly willing to give the FO the benefit of the doubt on the pick.

Emmitt Smith called from ESPN with a correction. He says that Davis won't be "soporific" unless he has a really good year next year. He is only a rookie this year.
