Spurrier and the spear logo

Thanks again for the curteous welcome guys. You are continued proof that Redskin fans are all class.

Besides being a Giants fan, I also follow my alma mater FSU. (Which makes things all the more interesting now that Spurrier is your coach!)

Part of me cannot believe that Steve Spurrier, Mr. Florida Gator himself, is coaching a team wearing (close to) garnet and gold and has a spear on the helmet. When I first saw those unis I was dumbfounded.

So my two questions are: What do most Skins fans think of the new alternate uniforms, AND has Steve explained how he copes with his team wearing the colors and logo of his former main rival?

Since I'm a Hokie fan, anything but that vile, ugly, sickenning green and orange combo and I'll be fine with anything.

you do you mean alternate in the white on white or the ones from a year ago and that i hope we never wear again. I like the redskins helmet of today not of the sixties.

I personally liked last year's home uniforms much better than the current one.

Actually...The Redskins were the first to don the "spear" helmet. FSU adopted it later....

But you are correct...the Seminoles are doing the White on Whites this year as well. Another similarity? The FSU players were the ones who decided to make the change...just like the SKins players did.

I don't think Spurrier cares. He knows he is in the big leagues now...and trivial things like uniform colors don't worry him. Big League defenses do...

Giants2003, I think you're talking about our uniforms from last year. Those were our 70th year anniversary unis. we will not be wearing them this year. Also, last year was when we wore the Spear on the helmet. this year we'll have the indian head for the entire year. Unless of course they throw us a surprise.

i actually prefer the white on white now. I like the new look. Being 2-0 on white on white helps.

I guess you aren't the only one that is slightly confused about that because many because many fans from different teams said that they liked them and glad that they changed. But like DJS said it was serving as our anniversary throwbacks. Frankly i am glad we aren't wearing them this year. I can't wait to see the red on red that will be agressive looking especially with Lavar!!!!

Well, here we go again, as Ronnie said. I loved seeing the, "Spear" helmets again, even for only one year. When I first became a Redskins fan, The helmets had a feather going up the back of the helmet. I have the feeling that there are not many posters on this site are 60+ and can remember the bad old days.
