View Full Version : FIRE UP THE TiVO'S - Redskins Hall of Fame Special THIS Saturday

Here's the announcement I hinted at last week:
I've been working on a pretty big documentary for the team, and it finally airs this coming Saturday, July 26th, at 7pm on WUSA9, here in D.C.
It's a half-hour documentary honoring our two fantastic players that are entering the Hall of Fame the following week: Darrell Green and Art Monk. During that half-hour, you will see interviews with former players and coaches, most of it never-before-seen, as well as many highlights covering the careers of those two Redskin greats.
We also did a really awesome sit-down interview with both Art and Darrell, where they discuss each other, as well as their own careers and journeys to the Hall of Fame. This footage has yet to air anywhere, and you can see it all on Saturday night.
This is really the first BIG project I've been given since joining the Redskins, and as a huge, superfan growing up, you can imagine the enthusiasm I put into it over the last 3-4 months. As a fan, I did my best to make it "for the fans." In other words, I wanted fans to get the most out of it, and feel like it encompassed all the great moments from Art's and Darrell's careers. It's really all for you guys. I'm really proud of this work, and it may be the best filmmaking work I've done in my life... I hope you all have a chance to see it, and feel the same passion for it that I do.
So, anyway, here's the details again:
Redskins Hall of Fame Special - Saturday, July 26th at 7pm on WUSA9.
I know it'll be on ComcastSportsNet at some point thereafter, but not sure entirely when yet. I'll update as I know more, but the PREMIERE is this weekend.
Thanks, and I hope you guys enjoy it.

For you out-of-towners: Does CSN block all Redskins-related shows?
In other words, could you see it if it aired on CSN? Or on "Redskins Nation?"

i look forward to it w&t, but like the 2007 redskins season thing yall did a couple months ago, i get the huge feeling that a half hour will do no justice. I really wish ya'll would make these things an hour long atleast...

Well, it's not up to us, unfortunately.
The program in June that recapped the 2007 season was the NFL Films Season-In-Review program, so that was produced by NFL Films, and not us.
With the HOF Special, we were given a 30 minute time-slot, so that's how long the program will be. Frankly, I think it would've been tough to stretch it into an hour - it's pretty tight right now, and I think the length is just about perfect. Hopefully, you'll feel the same way when you see it.
The doc we have airing NEXT weekend, which I've posted about previously, IS going to be an hour long - but that's because we were given an hour time slot.
Hope that makes sense.

Comcast never shows Redskins stuff, they just show local stuff based on where you live. So for us here CSN is Blackhawks, Cubs, Sox (yes both baseball teams), Bulls, Bears...
BOO!!

Awesome! Whistle showed me a rough cut of this awhile back, and I thought even then it was looking great, so I can't wait to see the finished version. Congrats, man! Me and the new addition will be watching....in fact, this is my first ever post typed with one hand....pacifier-sucking baby is in the other...

unfortunately not. We just bought HD equipment a couple months ago, and most of the interviews were shot long before that. Plus, they didn't have HD cameras in the 80's. :)

Same here. Anything related to the Redskins is blacked out. I really hate CCSN! Probably not their fault but...

Wish I could watch it at 7, but I've definitely got it set to record. I'll definitely watch it tomorrow.
I'm sure it's excellent.
And you have no idea how jealous I am of your job, by the way.

Here in the Richmond area they do show Redskins on CSN. I see the HOF show plus some other Redskins shows are coming on later in the week.
Unfortunately the show Redskins Nation has flown under my radar. I see it comes on quite often but I'd never seen it before. I'll have to check that out.

You're really not missing anything by not watching Redskin Nation. It is arguably the worst produced show on TV.

Came home from my niece's b-day party and went straight for the DVR.
I am still a bit choked up....wow...what a trip down memory lane. It was painfully short, when there was so much to show, but Tom and the crew did an excellent job of pulling out the big stuff and working with the time they had.
The interviews, with Manley, Theisman, Gibbs, Bubba Tyler, Warren, Rypien...it was all too much.
But my favorite, favorite part was when they talked about how great it was going to be in Canton...I just can not wait....

Don't make the mistake of taking him to a real game too early. I remember I had my daughter...probably 5 months old...I was in a first year as a season ticket holder and decided I'm going to take the whole family to the first night preseason game. Man did that baby freak out with the noise from the fireworks, PA, fans, etc.... Endoctrination probably best left at home until they're a couple years old.
BTW, W&T...the show was really good. I'm shocked you got Art to say that much! Loved the old pictures and footage. That was great. Excellent work! I'm primed for Canton!

I had nothing to do with this one, except for some of the game footage coming from my "archives." :-)
This one was all Whistle, and you should be proud, buddy! Great work! Loved the music especially....awesome job!!

I finally saw it and I didn't think it was bad at all. Certainly not the most exciting show considering it's a daily show about training camp but it seemed OK to me.
