Did anyone else notice how thin Jason Taylor looked on the sidelines. Definately cut, but looks more like a QB than a DE. I never noticed it with his pads on.
That said, his results speak for themselves and he is going to crush a lot of QBs this year. He is a real physical marvel.

He's still undersized at the position esp. with playing in the smash-mouth NFC East. I'm concerned about teams running directly at him. Great pass rusher, no doubt and I'm excited we have him. We effectively have two undersized ends. I'm just concerned about the run stops.

Anyone hear the part of the interview where he said he bought his teammates hundreds of pairs of shoes? I'm glad he's making the effort, but it seemed like sort of a weird way to make a first impression. Can't these guys buy their own shoes?
But in terms of actual football, I can't wait to see him and Carter in action. I think he's got enough power to make up for being a little small, but I guess we'll see.

He has always been smallish in the body bulk but he is still 6'4'' long armed and fast. He might be the best pass rusher in the division outside of possibly Ussi or Ware but he is close if not at their level. I Miami he was criticized for lack of bulk against the run but with little help along the line Miami was still a good defense for nearly his entire career.

I think Taylor's the best in the division. Umenyiora needs a larger body of work WITHOUT Strahan on the other side before I'm thinking he's at Taylor's level. Just typing "Taylor" has me missing my man, Sean.

I thought he spoke well. So what if he doesn't have a gut? Many guys get re-energized on a new team that's going places. We need him for our defense here - if only for 2 seasons. I'd take his 12 sacks versus 1-2 from Daniels any season.

On the other side of the coin, does Clinton Portis look too heavy to you? His neck seems to be bulging. I read where he has worked out during the offseason to add some muscle mass. I just hope he didn't overdo it. He still needs his quickness.

What smash mouth NFC East? Our rivals have tough hard hitting defenses, but the Cowboys and Eagles by all means run finesse offenses, and the Cowboys haven't been able to run the ball against us since Emmitt Smith's last season there. The Giants had some success running the ball against us last year and this needs to be fixed, but since when did the Eagles and Cowboys run smash mouth offenses?

He has always looked that way... More like an OLB than DE. The other night was the first time I got excited about this trade!!! Taylor looked ready!

I guess you have a point there. Let's be real, the Gints and Iggles gashed us in previous years. And the Cowturds have recently made that transition with Homo at the helm. But all that beef upfront for the Texas team wasn't built for a rolling pocket. We're the best at it (smash) when we're healthy for sure. And since Buges is managing the inherited running packages we should be at least as good as we were last year. He's still a concern against the run... and I still love the trade.
