still even though goodell is trying to suppress the complaints, there WILL be a change for next year. there is universal anger over this..

I would complain even louder over this if someone told me to stop complaining. Especially if it had a profound effect on the season.

this is one of those rules that should get changed by next year.. but the commish hates to look foolish, so "due diligence and study" will have to take place before they decide it was a very bad idea to start with

Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo to teams ordering them to stop complaining about the 80-man roster. Most coaches and GMs believe the 80-man roster is a disaster because it makes it hard to keep the players from wearing down during training camp.
Having visited 14 training camps, it's obvious the impact of the 80-man roster is immense. Practices are being shortened and coaches are worried about players tiring and experiencing hamstring and groin pulls. Also, teams are being forced to reach injury settlements with players instead of keeping them around because they need healthy bodies to fill out practices. It's a mess, but Goodell doesn't want to hear about it from team executives.
Examples of the impact of the 80-man roster are evident throughout the league. Two weeks into training camp, four draft choices, including three fifth-rounders, have been waived-injured, meaning they will either receive injury settlements or will be released once they are healthy. Gone from the fifth-round are Falcons linebacker Robert James, Bills linebacker Alvin Bowen and Saints defensive tackle DeMario Pressley. The Bucs waived injured seventh-rounder Cory Boyd.
I agree with the "shut ujp" memo if the answer is that it will be changed next season. Otherwise the commish can shove it and folks should get louder.

Agree it will change. The owners want to pay more to get extra bodies, and they pay the commish. I wonder why the union isn't all over this. The players are the ones who are wearing down, and being asked to risk more because there is no able body to give them relief, and the players own the union. A rare issue where players and owners agree and the league office says "shut up!".
